I have had the worst experience with the billing dept and "customer service"! It's so bad that I'm filing a complaint with IDPH! I am insured by mercycare and my primary referred me to a neurology/pain management specialist that was in network, therefore a MERCY doctor; he worked out of the rockton rd hospital location. I pay a $50 copay for speciality visits so tell me why they charged me TWICE once for $319 for the hospital services and a second time for $379 for a physician service!? With insurance coverage it still came out to $475 total for what should have been a $50 visit! MercyCare is on my side and had me file an appeal. They don't understand what the mercy billing department is doing. When it's the billing dept trying to screw you over and NOT the insurance company, run and never ever go back to that health system! If I had any other choice for insurance, that's exactly what I'd be doing. I have been going back and forth, back and forth with mercy who decided to write off the remaining balance of the hospital services bill of $185 (after my $50 copay) for "patient satisfaction"; but then they turn around and try and charge me even more! Also the visit itself with Dr. Gorelik was ridiculous. I was the first appt for the day (8am) so tell me why I waited 45 mins to see a nurse and then another 15 mins to see the doctor? And once I did see him, we spoke for five mins and I got referred to Northwestern which of course the insurance doesn't cover.

The rudest health care. I called to ask for records to get a copy. after being on hold for several minutes, the receptionist answered. I asked for records. She responded with I should say Please can I have records department instead of just saying records. Followed by her hanging up. The doctor was a half hour late for appointments, No apology that the doctor was running late. Horrible care

If you need any type of emergency medical care do not go here!!! I cannot stress this enough this emergency room is the worst. This facility definitely needs to be shut down. You would die if you had life threatening injuries and went here for care. The only reason we chose this facility is because it was close to where we lived on the West side. This emergency room facility is completely understaffed with one nurse and one call doctor to run the entire emergency room. The cleanliness of the facility was horrible. Keeping hospitals clean is not just an aesthetic, but a patient safety issue. We were checked in for triage within 15 minutes after arriving. However, the service went totally downhill after that. I f I had to rate this facility from 1 to ten, I would give it a negative ten (-10). Several people who were there before we arrived left because they could not wait any longer for the on-call doctor. We were the only ones left in the ER because everyone else left...We waited hours in the waiting room to never get admitted while my mother was in severe pain. I constantly questioned the staff about how long before the doctor would arrive and if there was a certain time line he had to report by. No one knew where the on-call doctor was coming in from. Told by the staff after two hours of waiting that Doctor Ahmed the on-call doctor had arrived. However, we never saw the doctor. An hour later after being told he had arrived we were later told he left again. knowing he had patients waiting in the emergency room. The male nurse was so unprofessional he did not know why the doctor had left. We ended up leaving and going to Swedish American emergency room. We were promptly checked in and taken back to see a doctor in a timely manner. Swedish American gets 10 stars for professionalism and great customer service! Mercy Health Emergency Room at 2400 N. Rockton Ave, Rockford IL 61103 needs to be shut down immediately!
