One of the luckiest days I've ever had was stumbling into Endy's shop about 10 years ago when he was on 143rd and Wolf. I spotted his barber's pole, but didn't know he was "by appointment only." He squeezed me in and cut my hair anyway. If there is such a thing as a grandmaster barber, he is it. First, the way you can tell you've gotten a great cut is not when you get out of the chair, it's when you wake up the next morning and your hair still looks great, and that's always the case for me when Endy cuts. Second, he has never washed my hair prior to (or after) a cutting. It's not necessary. Third, he knows exactly how and when to use thinning shears, sometimes he uses them, sometimes he doesn't. For me it's every other haircut. You wouldn't believe how many barbers don't know how to properly use the thinning shears. Endy explained that it's like "sanding" the hair. Some stylists will plunge the shears deep into the hair, some in the wrong direction, and the hair will grow unevenly very quickly. Fourth, he spends ample time on detailed cutting along the perimeter edges of the hairline, around the ears and across the back. For me, this is a true testament to his craft and the pride he takes in his work, and he always does a great job. I've been to many lazy barbers that are sloppy and just whip through this phase of the cut. Fifth, the neck shave is done without shaving lather (again not necessary), just a little rose water and a new razor blade everytime. Last but not least, a barber isn't just about hair, we've talked about life, family, finance, politics, religion, travel and culture. He is a total class act. I just recently moved away from the area. The search for a new barber is a painful oddessy. I miss you already Endy. Whenever I'm back in town, I'll be back in your chair. Love you Brother!
Best Haircut every time!! I refuse to go anywhere else.
