I hope that Jeffery Weinberg is no longer practicing. He's horrible. He forgot to read an ex ray and inform us that my husband had a fatal lung disease! He was more interested in talking about getting high.

One star is too high! I had been with the practice for a number of years and watched the service deteriorate. I can never get in when I need too. The billing department never gets it right and is always trying to over charge me. The staff has gotten rude to patients and it is not acceptable. Don't go there!!!

I recently visited Physicians of the North Shore in Skokie to see the staff podiatrist. I have visited several other podiatrist over the years and wanted a second opinion for a chronic pain in my right foot that was now starting in my left foot and which I do not yet feel I have an accurate diagnosis or perhaps more importantly a way to slow down whatever the foot deterioration that is occurring. A casual acquaintance recommended the podiatrist at Physicians of the North Shore. The pain in my foot was increasing and I had no other recommendations for a podiatrist so I decided to move forward with an appointment. The doctor and his assistant were very professional-no issues there. However the office does not have an xray machine. My prior xrays were from four years prior so the doctor asked if I had time that day to go down the street to the hospital, have the xrays taken then bring them back to the office to complete the appointment. It was a rather surprising request. I should have said no on the spot. In addition to the inconvenience I had another doctor appointment later that day and I was not sure if the timing would work out. But I was assured that if I went right over it could work out. How foolish was I on several accounts. First I drove to the hospital (North Shore University Hospital/ Skokie). I had to wait a bit for the xray tech. Then when I was taken in it clearly appeared to me they were not set up to take this type of xray on a regular basis. I have had xrays taken over the years at Illinois Bone and Joint and at another large private practice podiatry office and taking a foot xray was always straightforward and "standard procedure". The set up process for the foot xray at the hospital was not straightforward. The tech had to "find" items(ie a cardboard box) that would put my foot at the right height and position. "I shoud get out of here" was all that ran through my mind. It was clear that foot xrays were not a regular occurance at this xray location or for this tech. Certainly nothing as easy and comfortable as at my prior foot doctor's offices. (at that point I was also mentally reprimanding myself for being impatient about getting a second opinion) The xray was completed and I asked for the "film" to take back to the podiatrist as he had instructed me to ask. At that point they said that the film would take at least 20 minutes to process and that it was in yet another building. That I could drive over there or one of them would run over and retrieve it. Did I have time to wait or could I return at a later date. There was easily another 45+ minutes that I would have to wait and that was not possible as I had to leave for another doctor appointment 20 minutes north. I could not return to the podiatrist for the appt completion because for the next two weeks I had out of town travel plans. I was already fuming as I knew that it would cost me another "co pay " for the appointment which had started on one day but now was going to have to be finished on another day. So imagine my surprise when I received the bill prior to scheduling the appointment. Shame on me for not knowing that when I walked out of the podiatrist office and walked into the hospital I would get a whopping hospital bill. It was over $800.00. The bottom line to me was an out of pocket charge of $300 plus copays. And this was only for the "xray" portion of the bill. $300(my portion) to walk into the hospital, $32 for the actual xray and It did not inlcude the actual doctor office visit or "exam". Bottom line. Know your insurance and know the actual services the doctor you are visiting can perform on site. If you need xrays etc go to a podiatrist with the equipment and expertise to conduct all necessary tests on site. I have opted not to return to Physician of the North Shore 's podiatrist as there is no point. I will not go to a podiatrist that does not have the full compliment of technology and services to support a full podiatry practice within their office. Too
