“Emma did an amazing job on my hair! I didn't have a solid plan for what I wanted when I went in for a haircut, just a general idea, and she gave me a haircut that works amazing with my face shape! It's low maintenance like I wanted and I feel like it looks nice for the first time in years (thanks postpartum, lol). Super accommodating place and extremely nice people!

Requested style: I requested a medium length, angled bob, but had some leeway with the exact style.

Hair type: Thick and straight/sometimes wavy.

“I’ve gotten my hair cut at nice salons all over the country and I’m very picky. On top of it, I have course curly hair that requires special care and technique. I’m so glad I found J Alek Hair Studio. He truly cares about my hair. He took the time to listen to my needs and learn my hair my first appointment. He‘s serious about making you look and feel your best and the amount of attention feels like celebrity treatment. He‘s professional, fun to talk to but also is chill so it’s relaxing to be there. He listens but also makes suggestions and he explains as he’s doing things which is huge for me. I love a good blow dry style with a round brush and he’s great at doing them. I get so many compliments.

She took the time to explain what she was doing and why, what to expect as my hair grows out, and was able to work with me to figure out exactly what I was looking for. This girl knocked it out of the park! I’ve gotten so many compliments on my haircut/color and she gave me some confidence that I desperately needed. Not to mention she’s the sweetest and so easy to talk to!

“I've been seeing this salon for a while now, tbh I thought they were more catered towards womens haircut and styles, for events and stuff. I had Karl did a skin fade, and it's pretty good. He's gonna talk to you and try to understand what you want. And as the usual move to new barber, the longer you go there, the more familiar they get to your hair/head/style. I will definitely be back and highly recommend you should try them. Salon is pretty nice as well, clean, and I like Karl work station. It feels more reserved. ?“

“George is an absolute gentleman. He runs his part-time business out of the front room of his home. He was so very thoughtful and professional in giving my 14 month old son is very first haircut. George's approach to the haircut was all about giving my son a very positive experience unless about giving him a Michigan Avenue Salon cut. The approach made perfect sense to me, my son had a wonderful time sitting in my lap for his first haircut. George was so gentle, so professional and so grandfatherly that my baby boy really enjoyed his first haircut. Not a tear was shed George's dog even comes visits customers but only before and after the appointment. During the cut the dog disappears. It was actually pretty impressive. The only reason it's getting four instead of five stars is that I hope it would be a cleaner Barber shop. We will be back, and I hope others will visit George as well.“
