“Ah, jeeze, I forgot to take a photo of Lutheran General to add to its Yelp biz listing. Really though, it shouldn't be a surprise that the listing is sans photo - if you're at the hospital, I'm sure whipping out your smart phone to clickity click the exterior is pretty far down the priority list. Especially if it's in an emergency or in my case, if you're having a baby. Yes, Baby dubs was born here and I was more than impressed with just about every aspect of the *experience.* Nurses/Doctors: Absolutely exceptional. Every nurse I interacted with in both delivery and recovery was fantastic. If you find yourself delivering a baby here, I can speak highly enough of two nurses - Laurie and Anne. These two ladies are very different but both really listened to what my husband and I wanted/needed and made sure our soon-to-be born peanut was well cared for. As for recovery, I was more than impressed with many of the nurses, especially Kelsey and Nancy. I wish I could list more names, but the nurses change shift so often, it was tough to keep tabs! Major props to the organization - the board in my room was always updated with information. My questions were always answered, my concerns addressed and I felt extra comfortable knowing that Lutheran's NICU is very highly rated...just in case! Facility: The delivery floor is part of the older building, so the rooms aren't appointed like the new recovery and postnatal rooms on floor 11. However, our delivery room had everything we needed and, frankly, you're not really thinking about the extras while you're contracting. The postnatal rooms on the 11th floor, however, are something to be mentioned. They're spacious, modern, private and come with plenty of space for storage and more. My husband had a fairly rigid sleeper couch to snooze on for the two nights we were there...and from what I heard it wasn't super comfy but I highly doubt you'll hear complaints from the support folks who are there for the moms and new babies. It's also worth mentioning the food ordering process - just like room service. Menus are provided and patients (new moms) can order up at their leisure (within set hours). The folks who accept the orders are usually happy to let you order a few items...helpful for significant others in the room and because the portions are pretty small. The bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and fruit plate were favorites of mine. For serious. I felt completely taken care of at Lutheran General and would happily recommend the facility for any moms to be.“
