It's everyone's first and second biggest fear. 1: the heat or A/C going out and B: getting the bill for the repairs. I have used Bourke's twice. Once when my A/C went out during a horrible heat wave and once right at the start of the fall when I turned it on for the first time. **disclaimer** I have never used any other heating/A/C service before so I have no basis for comparison, but I am VERY satisfied with Bourke's Service so it's doubtful I would unless I move out of the area. The good: I feel that any service professional strives to do the best job they can and provide a good service at a fair price. This is no exception. For my A/C repair they came out the very next morning on a Sunday and I believe the problem was the capacitor and my bill was about $350. It was a tough pill to swallow but I felt the price was fair for the service provided. For my furnace the problem was the ignition. The price was under $200 including parts and labor. The problem was fixed correctly with no further problems. Both times the repair was made the same day. No return trips necessary. The service was very friendly and professional. He was dressed neatly and professionally, covered his shoes when he came in the house and worked fast. He explained everything in plain English and didn't try to upsell me on anything I don't need. This earned my business for as long as I am in this area. The bad: this is not a huge mega corporation. Because of that, they don't always have all the parts for every type of furnace and AC on hand. They generally keep the most commonly needed parts in the van but some specialty parts need to be ordered. Some of the huge companies may have a shop or a warehouse with plenty of parts in hand. With my furnace he had the ignition on hand to fix it, but he said that if it had been the blower motor he would have had to order it and it would take about a day to get. Sometimes for a heating emergency, that one day wait may be rough. The ugly: services like this are hard to find. Every neighborhood has its little gems but it can be hard to find. I feel like this is they way a small business should be and I wish there were. Anyway, this review has gotten long enough. Bottom line is that these guys are very highly recommended.
Bourke's have always been professional, courtesy, knowledgeable and very prompt for all their appointments. We have had several calls with them, a new furnace and then yearly maintenance and always a pleasure doing business with them.
