I began at the Orland Park facility in August 2022 following surgery for a compete Rotator Cuff Tear & Bicep tear. I was welcomed to the office by Lyn at the front desk. I than met Melanie who would be my Therapist. The first day was mostly stretching hanging my arm which had not been out of the sling straight down (The Elephant). We follow this up with stretching and exercise on the table, the pulleys, the wall and other exercises. Mel helped me locate items to purchase at home so I could work from there things like pullies, hand weights, stretch bands and more. After a brief stay in the hospital for an unrelated issue, my Physician stated that I had Frozen Shoulder Syndrome. Mel explained what that was and how we could correct that and rehab my shoulder. What a great news! Somewhere along the line Matt was transferred to another facility and Jonathan joined Orland Park. I continued working with Mel I was amazed that my arm could move as far as it did with little or no pain. Mel was my hero. But she was helped by Jon, Lyn, and Talia until she (Mel) was transferred. Jon became my therapist, we move my arm in ways I thought impossible but it worked, Mel, Jon, Matt Talia, Lyn and the entire staff were excellent. I completed therapy on May 22, 2023 forty four weeks after my Surgery with about 99% of my initial movement Thank you PTSIR for a job well done!!
After my shoulder surgery, when I had to pick a place to go for my PT, I wasn’t sure where to go. I really was only aware of the chain places, like ATI and Athletico. But I couldn’t drive for about a month so I chose PTSIR in Orland Park because I thought, if for some reason my wife was not available to drive me, it’s only about a 2 mile walk. I could do that. Sometimes you’re smart and sometimes you’re just lucky. Here I was lucky. This place, and these people, are outstanding. Personable, professional, & proficient in the science/art of PT. People had told me: “keep up with your therapy. You’re gonna hate it but you gotta keep going.” I got news for you. I didn’t hate it. I actually enjoyed it. Why? 1. It’s working. I have about 75% mobility & strength back in my shoulder. 2. These people, Melanie & Linda, they are so engaged in your situation and your progress and so friendly that we actually have conversations and laugh. It’s hard sometimes to show your vulnerabilities (even tho it’s a result of surgery) to strangers. They made it easy. I went to another place about 18 months ago, before surgery was decided. And they were good...friendly, seemed competent. But not nearly as engaged or invested in how I was progressing. Again, they were fine. But on a scale of 1 to Mel, they were like a 2. So thank you Linda for being so friendly and open and helpful. And thank you Mel. You have been simply wonderful.
