“I would give the location and Dr. Gonsalves 5 stars. I felt misled by the pricing practices described below. Optometrist - 5 stars to Dr. Gonsalves. She was on time, knew her stuff and had thoughtful answers to all of my (many) questions based on research, was kind. Highly recommend. Up-front communication re: pricing - 1 star. I intended to use my insurance (eyemed) to get prescription for contacts and glasses. After I had already gone through the exam process I was informed I could only get prescription for contacts OR glasses. If I wanted glasses prescription I'd have to pay extra. Also, if I wanted contacts I had to pay $85 for the trial contacts and follow up appointment. Even though I was getting the same contacts I've been getting for years. I would not have used this practice if I'd known I'd be nickel and dimed this way. After I got the EOB, I realized they also signed me up for the "Premium" fit and follow up which meant I had to go in for a "fitting" and for the doctor to see if my prescription was correct (it was, surprise!). When I checked my insurance if I'd gotten a "standard" fit and follow up I would get a $55 discount on the follow up instead of the $7 discount I got on the supposedly premium experience. I dont know if "standard" fit and follow up was even an option. They also made it seem like I couldn't just get the contacts without a fitting. Which is absurd given that I was getting the same contacts I've been using for years. Ordering contacts through them is also way more expensive than ordering elsewhere. I have $120 insurance coverage. For a 6 month supply I would have had to pay $50 over the $120. On EZcontacts.com I got a 6 month supply for $80 total (so insurance pays for all of it with $40 to spare). Exact same brand. Looking at the EOB I can see that insurance companies put a ton of pressure on practices by paying them almost nothing for the exam which results in practices trying to make up their expenses (and profits) elsewhere. That's bad. But this kind of "drip" gotcha pricing has lost you this customer. I feel bad for any folks on tight budgets who thought they'd only have to pay their $30 copay only to end up paying way more unplanned. Oh, almost forgot to add that after my exam and paying the $85 up front for "premium fit and follow up," they never called me to come and get the trial contacts and get my fit and follow up. I called them two months later (I was out of town for a bit) to ask what happened to my trials and the staff said they didn't know why I hadn't been notified the contacts had been waiting. There were two trial lenses per eye with the premium fit and follow up. (One that you try on in the office, the other they give you to take home).“

I have been to a lot of optometrist on the southside of Chicago and all I found was extremely poor or outright awful service! Then I found Lunettes! When you go into Lunettes you are greeted by Leeanne. Leeanne is so awesome! From the time I started going to Lunettes, Leeanne was just full of smiles and years of experience. To date the service that she provides is impeccable. She knows everything about her job and she knows how to get what she wants so she can provide the customer with exactly what they want. I have more than one insurance available and she easily uses every benefit available to me. Nicole, is a little newer but she has worked with Leanne in the past and it shows. Nicole is extremely nice and extremely helpful when Leeanne is not holding down the fort. She is a perfect teammate. Dr. Lange was initially quiet but that has changed. She is always asking about the family and how things are on the daily. Dr. Lange is genuinely interested in how her patients are doing and has a pleasant chair side manner. She is genuinely happy to do what she does and it shows. Dang it the whole office is just the bee's knee's. I will be going there until they tell me to stop coming in. LOL. I dare you to find a doctor in the U.S. who knows more than she does. She is the most knowledgeable and thorough optometrist we have ever been to, the wife is always singing her praises. “When I arrived I got greeted with a smile and a genuine Good Morning. While completing my paperwork, I was called in the back. The testing area is the best. The optometrist took her time with me, thoroughly explained everything to my understanding and explained the pictures of my eyes. Then the icing on the cake (sort of speaking) Carmille handled my “frame picking “ as if she was wearing them, her numerous years of experience combined with the love for her work, landed me with the perfect frames. “We not going to pick anything, these glasses are a piece of jewelry for your face”. Hands down the absolute best I’ve seen in the field. Definitely going to recommend this place to anyone that I can. Cannot wait until my glasses come in.“
