Our family has been going to Pediatric Smiles for 10 years. Over those years we have recommended multiple families to the business. We’ve never had any issues with billing, making payments etc. a few weeks ago our middle daughter had to get fillings. Before getting her work done they had me sign a paper stating what the charges were for the visit. They said I would owe x amount that day. I said I can’t pay that today that I would have to make payments. The lady went to the front desk to talk to someone and came back saying we need to pay $50 that day and the rest has to be paid by her next visit to get more work done. Fine. I’ll pay $50 today but I will call Monday once the billing lady is in and I’ll set up payments. The next week the billing lady called us and said that their policy is that payment is due in full at the time of service and that I can’t make payments and that our daughter can’t get anymore service done until her bill is paid. I was upset. 10 years of being an established family for their business. 10 years of no issues with making payments. We wanted to switch dentists for our kids. I told the lady on the phone and she said okay. She was okay with 4 patients leaving. Phone call ended. We thought about it awhile and we really didn’t want to leave Dr. Hall as our 4yr old twins just got comfortable there and the older two girls have only been seen by him. We have some extra income coming in and we would pay our bill off before our daughters next scheduled visit. Last week we received a text message for our other 3 kids stating it was time to schedule their 6 month cleaning. I called this morning the set up the appointment. The lady who answered had an attitude from the start of the phone call. She told me we had a balance and that it needs paid. I said that it would be paid next week when we come in. She put me on hold and transferred me to the billing lady. She informed me that she will not be making us an appointment until the balance is paid in full. I questioned it once again. Never had we had an issue. Ever. She said normally she is accommodating but since I acting the way I was that she was not accommodating us. This really infuriated me. I ended the phone call. I called my husband right away. He said leave. Don’t ever go back. Indeed that’s what we did. I called local pediatric dentists and got in for an appointment tomorrow and she said they will take payments! Very upset of how this situation was treated. Because we couldn’t pay in full we were treated with no respect. Because we’re a lower income family we were pushed away. Shame on the staff members of Pediatric Smiles! Looking forward to a better experience at our kids new dentist.
