“12/10 Best hair cut of my life. I went to Ellie at Neon Heart earlier this month for a transformation cut. It was also the first time I've done any sort of color treatment with my hair. This was something I had been thinking about and planning for a while and I'm so glad I found Neon Heart. Through the whole process Ellie gave me valuable feedback while also helping me feel excited about going for a big change with my hair. The day of the cut and color was a ton of fun and the end result was a style that matched the vision I had in mind and has been something I've been able to replicate at home. If you're coming to Neon Heart, you're getting a hair styling experience that is head and shoulders above the average salon. It's elevated, safe/affirming, edgy without feeling pretentious, fun, inclusive and comfortable.

Communication and customer service were top notch. I like that they have a text messaging system where you can communicate with them about appointments without having to take time during the day to make a phone call. I like that they have a solid presence on social media. That allowed me to see a ton of examples of hair cuts and styles that they've done in the past, which helped in the decision-making process when I was trying to find a place to get a transformation cut.

“West Des Moines Barbershop, located off Grand Ave. just west of Val Air Ballroom, is a small but great place to get a haircut. Recommended to me, I decided to give this place a try due to its price and proximity to my home. It did not disappoint. Truc is my barber and she has always done a fantastic job. I get a simple taper cut but I'm positive she's great at other styles as well. To top it off, she ends each cut with a neck shave and hot towel. She has even gone above and beyond for me when I had a scheduling conflict. You'll need to schedule an appointment ahead of time for availability. And they do offer other services as well.
