Last Thursday around 7pm we noticed the temperature in the house was slowing going up. Our AC unit was running however, the air blowing out was not near as cool as what it usually is. I kind of started to panic because I knew with the holiday weekend coming up most companies probably wouldn’t be able to make it out the same day. My first 2 phone calls were to some of the “popular” places, according to google reviews. Both companies were booked solid for the day. One lady I talked to was beyond rude. She told me in a very sarcastic voice “good luck with that” and chuckled when I asked if someone would be able to come out that day. I came across Harris Heating and Cooling. I noticed he was a smaller company. After calling the other 2 companies, I was feeling defeated. The last thing I wanted was to spend our holiday weekend in a hot house. After explaining to John what was going on, he said it sounded like a simple problem he has seen time and time again. However, he wouldn’t be able to say for sure until he seen it. He said all of his guys were off till Tuesday and he was going to be leaving town that morning to go to the cabin with his family. He lives right down the road from us and told me he would swing by and take a look. He said if it was what he thought it was, he had the part and would be able to fix it for us. He did warn us that since he’s a smaller company he doesn’t always have all the parts like the big ones do. THANKFULLY, he was right! From the moment he walked up to the AC unit he knew exactly what it was. It was also one of the cheaper fixes as well. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed out by this situation. My husband has been off work since January 2022. In the beginning of January he started to develop some health issues. After taking him to the ER three times in one week, they finally admitted him because he had a very aggressive and rapid growing blood infection. After being in the hospital for over a week, we were finally able to come home. However, he continued with being treated for the infection at home. Every night he had to be hooked up to IV antibiotics. After 8-10 weeks of IV treatment, they finally took out his mid-line and started him on oral antibiotics. After dealing with the blood infection for nearly 5 months, he was finally discharged from the infectious disease doctor. Unfortunately, he started experiencing severe hip pain. After meeting with a hip specialist they informed us he would need a total hip replacement. Because of Covid they are still backed up with surgeries so it’s going to be at least 3-4 months before he will be able to get his hip replaced. He has always been our main source of income. Unfortunately, his pay has been cut significantly since he’s been on short term disability. We have had to really budget our money. Between his income and mine, by the time we get done paying our monthly bills we don’t really have a whole lot of extra money. We do our best to save what we can. When my husband called me and told me how much it was going to be to fix it I was shocked. In my head I was thinking this would put us back at least $500. To my surprise, it was no where near that much! 🙌🏽🙏🏽 We really cannot thank John enough for helping us out. Because of him, we were able to enjoy our holiday weekend with one less thing to stress about. Oh, and we got to do that in our very cool home! ❄️🌬 We will definitely be using Harris Heating and Cooling in the future! I even added John’s contact information to my phone. I think his contact name says it all! Lol (screenshot attached)
