This company was subcontracted with the store we purchased our flooring from. They brought our flooring boxes out about 10 days before they installed and said it needed to acclimate to our indoor temperature. On the flooring boxes as well as the brochure, it said no acclimation time was needed. When the came out to install, the floor had an area that wasn't leveled correctly and the flooring was sinking when stepped on more than anywhere else. Also a few places where the flooring wasn't all the way under the baseboards and needed to be fixed. The person running this job didn't see any issues and wasn't wanting to have the laborers fix these issues. Went back to the store we purchased from and had them come out to see the issues that clearly needed to be fixed. Finally, this company came out and spent almost the entire day making the repairs. The flooring is very nice, but I won't recommend this company to install after the runaround we got.

10 costly mistakes to learn from. Dealing with the owner Mike of MK Flooring has been interesting. He was referred by Bougainville Carpet's, Kim Roy to be a flooring installer. Mistake #1 should have gotten multiple quotes from different installers to compare approach, and not just take the recommendation from Bougainville. I'm sure Mike is experienced, but he wasn't the person installing my flooring. Mistake #2 Mike offered one price and then gave another "cash option." Less isn't always a better deal. Get the quote written down in detail and take your time to evaluate it. Mistake #3 purchased flooring from Bougainville's Kim Roy, but all the measurements was done with MK Flooring. The two companies work together for what is "needed." At this point you have to trust that the measurements and the ordering is what you need for the job. Mistake #4 I'm not a contractor and did not verify square footage, moldings, baseboards, planks, etc. Trusted that the "professionals" would do right by the customer. Mistake #5. Got a call from Kim saying that when Mike picked up my order, the warehouse personnel gave too much material and I needed to give some of it back. What? How would I know what was delivered and received since it was handled by the two companies. Mistake #6 Installation commenced. Should have insisted that they don't store their tools in my home going back and forth over the floor they just installed. Furthermore, should have recommended that they not do the cutting of materials in the living room and in the bedroom. This caused debris and damage all over the place. Mistake #7 When Mike told me I needed to pay for more material because he was "short" I should have insisted that it wasn't fair that I pay for more items since he took the measurements and ordered the materials. Mistake #8 Should have been adamant that when the workers completed one area, that I inspect it and not assume that they would come back to touch it up after they completed other sections. Would have appreciated a bit more oversight from the owner Mike of his workers. They moved from area to area never really finishing a section. Caulking not completed. Knicks on walls. Staples and debris left. See pictures. Mistake #9 Thinking that the final walk-through would be done respectfully and professionally. Instead, did not feel comfortable. I pointed out areas needing correction, but was met with reasons of why I should accept it as is. Even when I pointed out a knick in the flooring that looked like it was caused by the installation and asked Mike to inspect it, he said he could just glue it to fix it. When I explained that the manufacturer of the product (I called to verify), recommended that it should be replaced because the waterproofing layer was damaged, he said, then I will let Kim Roy from Bougainville know to make a claim as a defective product. Mistake #10 Thinking that a local business owner of a company would be working with the home owner aka customer to correct issues on site, versus being defensive, evasive, and not very customer oriented. Fair is fair, I made a bunch of mistakes. Learned that the customer isn't always right when dealing with this company. Note: I hired someone new to correct the problems that was professional, patient, and customer oriented.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to write a review on MK Flooring. We went to Bougainville Flooring to purchase our materials and they provided us w a list of installers. MK Flooring was one of the installers that we contacted on the list. Mike is the owner and he is the one who came over to provide the estimate. You can tell right away that he's been doing this for many years. He was the first installer to reply to us and the one w the most competitive pricing. To prepare, we agreed to clear our floors and to move all of our belongings & furniture ourselves. The crew did help us move 2 beds and one dresser. In July 2020 MK Flooring took a total of 4 days to complete our flooring installation w a team of 3 guys. I can honestly say I love my new flooring. It was a big investment and long overdue. A day after the installation was finished, we called Mike to ask for the crew to come back to cut our closet doors since they needed to be adjusted according to the new flooring...and the crew came over the next day to fix them. If I need to have flooring installed in the future I would hire MK Flooring again!!
