We Were There for the Sony Open. Waialae Delivered on Every Level.
Waialae Country Club is one of those places that genuinely earns its reputation. We visited the property earlier this year as part of Smartgolfcourses' ongoing exploration of Oahu's golf landscape, and we were lucky enough to be there for the Sony Open in January, catching the Pro-Am and staying through the Final Tournament on January 18th. Watching Chris Gotterup close out the 2026 edition on that Sunday was something we won't forget quickly.

Attended a seminar from my travel agency and the setup is great. Three screens to see what the PowerPoint was showing without having to dodge heads! Public parking ample and generous for larger vehicles. Friendly parking attendant and receptionist even on an overcast day.

I was staying at a near by resort that the property was adjacent to this golf course. I went to purchase a golf hat and was denied service. Although there was a note on the door that said members only, I mistakenly took that as referring to playing a round of golf. If you’re not a member, you can’t buy anything - only during the Sony Open. This golf course has the privilege and benefits thereof of hosting a PGA sanctioned event. It therefore represents the PGA of America not only during the Sony Open but everyday after this event. This was poorly done.
