Amazing personal trainers and complete, clean gym. ...For tourists, Hands down, best choice they made training at relaxing at Sauna or training at Unyqe weight room . Its private, and some luxury for travelers at best prices in town!This is a fantastic gym!...$$
Okay, let me first say that this review is based on ONE visit to Unyqe Fitness. Heres the background: I am currently a member of another fitness center and since I work in the business district, Id like to switch to a gym closer to work (for convenience). I contacted Unyqe and Derek (owner?) said to come by for a tour and workout when im able to. Great! After some emailing, I finally went, yesterday. Unyqe is right off of Nimitz Hwy (Aloha Tower is literally across the street). You can also walk the length of Ft. Street Mall to get there as well. Unyqe is right next to the elevators. Go through the door and down the stairs and youre there. Right off the bat, this place is choppy in terms of the layout. There are multiple rooms and tiny hallways but it is easy to manage. Equipment is old. I wont sugar coat it. The equipment isnt "outdated" but it is definitely older. The metal pieces of equipment have a bit of rust or patina, but it works -- and thats whats important. Starting from check in, the two ladies that were there were super friendly and very informative. Lauren showed me around and made sure not to miss anything. Please take note of their hours of operation before you go. They are closed two separate hours during the day for cleaning. I have not registered to become a member (yet). I am still unsure how I feel about it. Unyqe is well...unique. I was told that I can come back a few more times to try to the facility out. And I most definitely will, as long as they'll let me. Cost of membership is mentioned on their website as $119 per month, however, it is not that high at the current. Please inquire as I am unaware if they run promotions, give discounts, etc. According to their website, you can also pay $20 daily (which, for normal people, would never be cost effective, haha) They sell their own merch. Which is cool. I may grab a shirt in black or heather if they have my size. Depends on the pricing when I get there. The PROs: There is a Pool, jacuzzi and multiple Saunas Location is convenient There were like 4 people there. I was working out alone for the most part. Hours of operation work for me They validate parking in the building The CONs: Only 1 sauna is working (the co-ed) The steam room is out of order and accordingly to people there, has been for a while. No real timeline of it being fixed. The layout is a bit weird The equipment needs updating if they are attempting to complete with other gyms in the area. It should also be noted that they will provide you with workout gear/attire. From pool slippers to shirts and towels, they got you covered. Im fairly certain all youll need is shorts/pants and shoes (plus undergarments' and the will and determination to workout, haha). I am not a picky person -- having equipment that works is whats important to me. If you like newer facilities or a more expansive series of equipment, Unyqe may not be for you. Also in the area, 24 Hour Fitness - Bishop (less than 5 minute walk away), YMCA - Nuuanu (about 5 minute drive away), Anytime Fitness - Kakaako and UFC - Kakaako (about a 5-10 minute drive away...or a nice walk).
