I have been on the hunt for a hair dresser who knows how to cut short hair for Asian's with thick hair. I think I finally found someone. If my hair grows out nicely in the next six weeks, I will be back. Photo of my $60.+tip, hair wash & cut doesn't do it justice because you can't see how the bulkiness has been taken away and it flows so nicely now. Adam & his wife rents an office, so you might be the only client. Since this was my initial visit, he asked me about my hair regimen which is low maintenance and if I had any photos of hairstyle that I liked. When I asked for his input, he took me back to my youth. In my college days, I could not afford high end salons, but I learned that you could volunteer for their training classes and get free haircuts and color. I remember in the Bob class, the instructor said, this lady has a double chin, so if you end the Bob here or you will accentuated the second chin. I never saw that lady again for free haircut's. For me, an instructor said, never give heavy bangs to someone with a short forehead. Another instructor said, volumize the front so you elongated the forehead. When Adam nicely suggested that I cut my (heavy) bangs differently and showed me how to style it, I knew where he was coming from. Adam said he loved his job and Hawaii and it showed. He is a very positive person. He originally trained at a high end salon in Hong Kong and moved to Honolulu in the1990's. He has a lot of repeat/regulars customers. Cons: No parking.
Adam was great. I didn’t have a style in mind, just wanted a big change. He recommended me a style that suits my head, face shape. It turned out good! Also pricing is super reasonable. Highly recommend.
