Dr. Douglas Calvert DO is a Class Act. Thank You for your help and good on you Dr. Calvert Sir. Hilo Benioff Medical Center needs more like you Sir. Hilo Benioff Medical Center has improved under the new CEO Benioff. Congratulations are in order. Aloha from John J.
Written from the bottom of my heart, with tears in my eyes, to the entire medical team at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. My family is so grateful for the services you provided and the care that was extended to a family member recently. You helped save this individual, a loving part of our family. Thank you. Over a month ago, a family member was brought into the ER, where the ER team was going to treat this incoming patient for something physical. That's what I also thought the problem was, nothing more. But, while waiting for a room after the initial interview, concerning signs began to appear. So, I informed a nurse and after some mobility tests, they immediately whisked my family member into an ER room with six medical professionals always present, at any given moment. A video call with my family member was done in minutes with a brain and stroke specialist with the ER doctor present in the room. It was confirmed. Our family member was having a stroke. Heartbreaking. I kept my composure in front of my family member yet, torn emotionally inside with thoughts running through my head at a racing level. The medical team after initially treating my family member, thanked me for driving up to the ER when I did. They said timing is everything, I made the right choice. I cried. They shouldn't be thanking me. It should be the other way around. You helped save my family member with your medical precision, attention and, quick decision to take care of the matter immediately. I should be thanking all of you. We are forever grateful as a family, for the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals that helped care for our family member during this critical time. During the days our family was at the hospital, I was able to witness first-hand the actual care that was given to this patient, in the ER, ICU and then, the Progressive Care Unit. It was amazing to watch, so heartfelt, geniune, sweet at times and, it was also extended to us family, as visitors. At such a sensitive moment, the medical team were able to extend warmth in more ways that I can explain, that brought comfort to myself and my family along with the patient. Thank you. Our family is forever grateful. Sending all our love to the entire medical team at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. What you did for our family and, what you're doing for our local community is beyond how gratitude can be expressed in words. Truly grateful, truly blessed. Heroes in our Hilo town, who don't get the recognition they deserve, but quietly perform their jobs so beautifully each day. But each day, they care for others and help save lives. Love your doctors, nurses, medical professionals, firefighters, police officers and most importantly, yourself and your loved ones. They keep us safe, help keep us alive, help us to live on when tragedy hits, like the way the medical team did for our family at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Seemless care, selfless love, all heart.
I retired from a US mainland network hospital. During our indoctrination lecture, we were instructed on being of service to our patients, their relatives, and visitors. The staff here, in every department involved, which is still ongoing, fulfilled and went beyond my own instructions of conduct and service. Awesome is all I can say. Thank you!
