About Hawaii Judo Academy
Hawaii Judo Academy offers a welcoming and accommodating environment for judo and jiu-jitsu enthusiasts of all levels. The instructors, led by Sensei Joel, provide informative and fun classes that are challenging yet rewarding. Students appreciate the supportive community and motivating atmosphere, making it an excellent place to learn and grow in martial arts. The academy is highly recommended for young children with a lot of emotional energy, as they do a great job challenging students while maintaining a positive attitude. The sensei and coaches truly care and are of a high standard, creating a well-organized and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Many students and families have been part of the HJA ohana for years, witnessing growth in strength and discipline, and supporting all the events hosted by the academy.
Hawaii Judo Academy hosted the training course I took. It is a spacious facility that is well maintained, though the ceiling on the lower level was definitely designed for judo and ground work. If you're 6" tall, be careful of hitting the ceiling if you're doing Ludo sport sabers like I was. Upper level has a much higher ceiling, but traps heat during the day. An absolutely amazing venue as long as you're aware of what it is designed for, which is Judo.
Excellent class I really had a great time and will be returning! Jiu Jitsu was really what I was here for but they offer judo classes and classes for young folks. If you see everyone gathered drop by!
