This happened to me when I took my dog a month ago.... I took my 17 year old Chihuahua to Woodland a last month when she was sick and not eating and had become really lethargic. When we got there I was happy they kept her there after our consultation with the nice vet and stabilized her when I first brought her in that afternoon. The daytime vet was very nice and helpful and discussed everything they'd do to help my puppy through the night until I could get her to my regular vet Monday morning. The last time I spoke with the vet was 11pm. She said My pup was resting, getting fluids and that if I don't get a phone call during the night then "no news is good news." So I received no phone calls during the night. That meant my dog made it through the night. I arrive at the vet at 8am with my dogs little bed and blanket ready to take my pup over to my regular vet. They call me and my husband to a room, I was assuming to get my dog; however, a different vet came in and said my dog had passed around 1am. He said he called and left a message with further details of what had transpired to her death hours prior. I received no phone call or voicemail. I was still up at 1am. I looked at my missed calls and voicemails and nothing. Obviously somebody else got the message about my dog. I was horrified. Here I was thinking I was picking my dog up. I would think that there would be further attempts if someone didn't respond to a voicemail or phone call. They had my phone number because they asked for it when I first checked in. I understand they did everything to care for her and make her comfortable, and I'm grateful for that. Most people know that when they take their pet to an emergency vet you're waiting by the phone for any communication. Not receiving that phone call or getting that voicemail was gut wrenching. Maybe there needs to be better protocols if you don't get in contact with the owner. As in this case, some other random person got the voicemail and not me. I've Never experienced anything like this with any vet office that I've ever dealt with in all the years I've owned dogs. Imagine going to pick your dog up only to find out that it had died. Not even another attempted phone call before I told them I would be there that morning to get her at 8am.

My dog went into Woodland for emergency bladder surgery due to stones. My regular vet does not perform emergency surgeries. The surgery went well, thankfully, and that is why I'm giving them 2 stars. However, anyone who has a dog that gets stones knows how important it is to have them tested, to see what kind of stones they are so we can treat our dog for the future. I called multiple times to find out the prognosis and they kept saying, "Any day now we will have the results..." finally, after insisting that it had been 2 months and my vet and I were waiting to give proper treatment, they admitted that they never sent the stones off for testing, they were thrown out - even though the surgeon had asked, there was a mis-communication. I was understanding at first with the nurse telling me that I would hear from a medical director, but I never even got a return call, not an apology, nothing. My problem is that I took my dog to them, looking for the professionalism that should come from an emergency vet, an agency that I hold to a higher level, a higher regard, as they are there to perform where others cannot. A huge amount of trust went into that. I mean, I have no idea how to properly treat my dog now and I got the runaround, maybe they could have apologized? I may have been fine with that, possibly understood the situation in hearing how they would handle it again in the future, maybe hear the things they would change, but instead I got nothing. Instead, I get emails on how I should join their clinic. Would I recommend them? NO. Should you trust them? NO. Are you looking for professionals? Not the place.

Took my shihpoo here after an unfortunate accident. They took her to the exam room upon our arrival to take her vitals. Since I was a walkin, it took about 3 hours before I was able to leave. However, I was pleased with the thorough care of the doctors and the professionalism of the team. It's too far for me to return for a regular very visit but it was great for an emergency.
