“A few years ago, my senior pit Layla had a sudden instance of extreme pain, it was not at all clear what the issue was. We went to the emergency vet and my usual vet, neither could find anything wrong and suspected it was a back issue, possibly a slipped disc that wasn't showing up on scans. Even on heavy sedatives, painkillers, and steroids, she was in severe pain and couldn't walk. A friend suggested I try acupuncture, and despite having very little hope of it working, I drove the 45 minutes each way for sessions at Winterville Animal Clinic. The difference was immediate and drastic. She had about six months of regular treatments that allowed her to live a mostly normal life while her back healed.<br><br>I am so, so grateful to Dr. Anna and all of the incredibly kind staff there! It has been almost two years since her last treatment and she has been going strong with no relapses at all. I could not believe what a difference acupuncture made in her comfort level. There were several times prior to starting treatment where she would collapse in the yard and be in too much pain for me to move her. I have been in animal rescue a long time and seen many animals in rough shape, but having to wait for the pain to pass so I could lift her and get her inside was one of the worst experiences of my life. I am eternally glad that the acupuncture was able to keep her at ease while time helped her back and she is now able to live a perfectly normal life as if nothing ever happened!“
