My wisdom tooth (already erupted) cracked so I had about a week to get an emergency removal. I scheduled for the Roswell location of Oral Surgery Associates & Dental Implant Centers because it was in-network. When we arrived for my surgery, we were told that they didn’t have me on their calendar. Turns out they put me on the calendar at their Buckhead location on accident. Because it was emergent, we decided to drive to that location for the procedure. We ended up having to wait about 3 hours once we arrived. They then tried to tell me that they were not in-network for my insurance and I would have to pay the full cost out of pocket. I did so (again, emergency removal so I didn’t have much choice) and figured it would be worked out later. Fast forward two months. Insurance sends me a statement of benefits confirming they are in network and I was overcharged by $500. I call to arrange a refund and am again told they are out of network. Insurance calls them and they don’t return the calls. I file a complaint with insurance so they can dig deeper. Fast forward two more months and I get a bill from their collections department saying I am past due paying $10 and now owe them $15 due to a late fee. They never sent me a bill before and they owe ME. Called today and now their story is that they are in network, but since it just counted toward my deductible Georgia law allows them to not follow the contractual rates they have with the insurance company so now I owe then more. Please, for your sakes, avoid this company. They obviously are only out to scam people for more money and take advantage of people when they are in pain.
Dr Lewis could learn some bed side manners!! He told me he doesn’t have a “magic wand” to help the nerve damage. Also, when I told him I bite my tongue multiple times a day due to numbness, he replies with “yeah, you’ve said that” also replied with “you signed a consent form sweetie” You think he would be more considerate of a patients feelings when they are still suffering 3 weeks after surgery. Said the numbness should wear off but might not. My lip/chin and jaw still have numbness and pain. Told him I couldn’t kiss my babies and he told me I needed to just “let it go.” Nurses have been amazing especially the guy nurse. I wouldn’t recommend this oral surgeon to my worst enemy for wisdom teeth removal. What a nightmare this has been. Just don’t want anyone to have to feel as defeated as I have this last month. I have the whole conversation recorded as well.
