“My son got sent home from daycare because he was clenching his stomach saying my tummy hurts. My tummy hurts so I called the nurse line and they directed me to go to the closest urgent care which was at the collection and Forsyth County. We arrived around 1120 and it was already so busy The receptionist at the desk that greeted us was there upon arrival greeting us and took my insurance and ID in order to start the process of admission he gave us a number and we sat in the lobby, which was very clean and the lighting was great. We waited two hours. But then once they took us back to the room, the doctor came within minutes to assess my son, and he is too, and he is not fond of being touched by doctors at this age, but she made him feel comfortable, and she was able to listen to him without us, having to hold him down, except for her to look at his ears, which is normal although at the time my son wasn’t clenching his stomach and yelling like he was a daycare he was saying ow ow, and the doctor decided to take an abdominal x-ray within like five minutes and x-ray tech came to get us from our room took us to get the x-ray and my son laid on the x-ray table as still as he could because he received great instructions from the x-ray tech. I was given a vest and I was able to sit there and hold my son‘s hands while they completed the x-ray and then we went back to the room. They said it was gonna be about 30 minutes, but it was less than 30 minutes and the doctor was in telling us he had gas. She explained the medication that she would prescribe for him and it was over-the-counter so I didn’t need a prescription. She explained that when kids have gas, especially if they’ve never had it before, but it’s very painful and due to his age and not being able to tell me exactly how he feels it was great that I came in just to make sure after the doctor left out of the room. The nurse came in with the discharge paperwork and education. I was educated thoroughly on the diagnoses and the medication and asked if I felt comfortable and understood how to care for my son before leaving although they were busy I didn’t feel like the staff was trying to rush me in and rushed me out, which was awesome especially with a two year-old after we left we stopped and we got the Micon tablets that the doctor told me to give Nolan for the Gas pain and I also grabbed a probiotic since that day Nolan has not had any more abdominal pain which is great. I hate that we had to go to the urgent care that day but I was glad that I went to the collection at Forsyth location. My son and I were both treated with respect and I feel like he was taking care of properly.“
