My daughter started with a very high fever Saturday night, Motrin helped her sleep but the fever was back as soon as the meds wore off. We decided to get her looked at since it's Christmas week and so many germs are going around. Masks were given to all uptown arrival by a security guard. I was alerted the wait would be about 2.5hrs but we didn't have an alternate option. We brought a coffee for me and Gatorade for my girl, an iPad and headphones and lots of patience. The waiting room is large with lots of chairs, televisions with movies and a few screens with simple video games. The waiting area was also decorated for Christmas. During our first 30mins I was called over to billing to ensure informations was correct and to pay our co-pay. At the 55min marker we were brought into the triage room by a nurse who got vitals and took notes then were sent back into the waiting room. After another 55min wait, we had a room and vitals were checked again. A doctor eventually arrived, asked questions and decided on a strep test (throat swab) and a Covid/Flu (nasal swab) - she was in our room less than 5mins. The nurse returned for the swabbing and advised we'd get an immediate strep result. We spent over an hour total by the time we were told her strep result was negative. I was told we would be called within 3hrs if the Covid or Flu tests were positive, or negative results would be posted to MyChart. While we left at 2:00pm, negative results didn't post to MyChart until 10:30pm. In total, we spent over three hours with our visit. The nurses were extremely efficient and kind. The entire building was being and clean. My lack of stars is mostly due to the extreme waits and failure to deliver when it came to test results.
My son's pediatrician ordered a radiology service and referred us to Children's. As soon as she called to let me know the order had been sent over, I was provided with the telephone number to call and schedule his service. When I called to make the appointme, the young lady offered me many options for dates and times and was very accommodating towards my schedule. She explained the test, how it would be performed, how long it would take, and what I would need to bring with me. Located off Barrett Parkway and Big Shanty, you cannot miss the building as there is plenty of signage to let you know you've found it which was extremely helpful as there is a radiology facility and urgent care in the same building. There is plenty of parking so that was no issue either. We walked inside and the registrar was so nice and out my husband and I at ease. She let us know what would take place during the visit and made sure that she had all of my son's info to ensure there would be no issues. Once we completed the paperwork, we hung out in the waiting area which was huge and had plenty of artwork, TVs, and games for those children who were waiting. We were called back within 5 minutes by the tech (Gina) who took us to the room and I loved how sweet she was and how she really explained everything that she would be doing during the ultrasound. She was so gentle with my son and I liked that after the exam was over she didn't rush us to leave as it was time to feed him. It's soooo good to know that this facility has wonderful staff who truly love their job. I'll definitly come here for any imaging needs!
