“I when yesterday on 8/16. I was very worried because I have been to a lot of stylists in Athens and a few going to Atlanta. A lot of them complained about my hair thickness and showed dislike about it. So I was very worried about it when I first come to the shop. The lady of this shop is very polite and kind. “Should have reviewed Joanna a long time ago. I have been going to her for a couple years now(but, have only needed a haircut a handful of times). I recommend Joanna to anyone who has hair, especially those like me with curly hair. Having super thick, very course curly hair, I needed someone who knows what she's doing, which is how I found Joanna. She doesn't do what other stylist do usually, and that is to start brushing my hair out(which feels and looks terrible). Instead, she looks at my hair and makes a gameplan that fits exactly what my hair needed. As soon as I made the first appointment, I told my mom and sister about her, and they feel the same way. She goes above and beyond for every client; she is kind and personal and absolutely fantastic. She talks to you as if you're picking up the last conversation(which is incredible, being that I hadnt had a haircut from her since last Fall). I came in today with my mess of a hair(thick, curly hair and hadn't brushed it out, so I knew how much work was needed) and she made sure everything she was doing was what I wanted. I wanted it straight after the cut because I am about to travel, and she accommodated me 100%. Made my hair the softest it has ever been. Also, I recommend everyone have the deep conditioning treatment. Will continue to recommend Joanna to everyone, and will continue to go to her as long as I can!“

“Jackie and her team at LOCK NEST were a staple of downtown Athens for over 20 years.
She was THE stylist to the Stars when bands came to town for shows and quickly became known for her talent. For many years she had built an immense client base and it was easy to see on the many smiling faces, that she truly loved her work.
A few years ago, she closed the iconic Studio near the UGA campus and moved her Studio to East Athens, where she continued to cut hair for many years, while also caring for her mother and son.
I will always remember her as a strong person, who was talented, and kind.
She always knew how to take my floppy mop and use her skills and scissors to make me look fantastic.
She always maintained a closed group of friends and support and was one of the most loving people I've ever known.
She passed away on Monday the 24th of March, and with Her Passing, so also ends the story of Lock Nest Hair Salon.
The Athens community, as well as her many friends and family, throughout the country, mourn the loss of this talented stylist, entrepreneur, mother, sister, and aunt.
