I hate leaving bad reviews, but future customers need to be aware of this business so that they can avoid. I also hope they see this feedback as constructive to grow their business going forward. I hate leaving bad reviews, but future customers need to be aware of this business so that they can avoid. I also hope they see this feedback as constructive to grow their business going forward. Southern Business Consulting is overall untrustworthy (big deal when doing taxes), has poor communication and lackluster customer service. 1/5, would not recommend. I have a new LLC, so first time filing taxes. My fiancé (whom is also the business consultant of my LLC) and I met with David and his team for an hour where we discussed what we needed to do and what services would be provided for the 2022 tax filings. This included taking the business' general ledger and categorizing accordingly for how the small business taxes need to be filed. After receiving the 1st tax return to review, we noticed several numbers and categories were not correct. Not just wrong totaling, there were absolutely random whole numbers in categories that were in no way related to the business' general ledger. For example, there was a round $2,000 under "Other", and $500 under "Marketing". I knew my exact numbers because I had analyzed them for our 2023 plans and these were blatantly wrong (It was quite obvious in the ledger that I spent greater than $500 on marketing in 2022). If we had been audited, there would be no proof to back up the numbers that was provided on this first return. This is where the trust was broken and I instantly looked to exit the relationship with this team. I looked over the contract that was signed after our original meeting and unfortunately would not be able to break away from this firm without a charge due to their contract language. Deciding to work with them, I pointed out the incorrect numbers and they said it was on me to provide the correct information and audit the returns myself. This would be a reoccurring narrative that I must provide the correct data and I must audit their work, which contradicts the statements in the original meeting we had. I began internally questioning what the $750 they were going to charge was for if I was auditing their work, especially after the promises made in the initial meeting to summarize our ledger and do this consulting work for my business. I did the work to categorize every transaction on my general ledger myself, build it into a summerized pivot sheet and provided it to them so they could update the tax return. Because the first return was so botched, we set up a meeting to discuss the new return in an attempt to re-gain trust. After we expressed our doubts and reasons why we wanted in-depth details, David became very combative. Even opened the discussion with quite a rude comment about not wishing to review the information with my fiancé, who also is my primary consultant in my LLC. It was repeated that it was my information provided which they use to populate and on me to audit the returns after they populated them, and that this was their process. We walked through several of my questions and David did explain the items that we had concern for, but again not with a customer focused attitude. Came across frustrated that we had these questions of the work him and and his team had done. In the end things kind of worked out as Southern Business Consulting thankfully ricended their contract with me, enabling me to find a more reputable CPA who is more established.
