A friendly and clean environment for your pet needs. The staff is refreshingly friendly and knowledgable. They spend the first few minutes of your visit listening to your concerns regarding your pet and their health needs. They take you to the back room and after a quick evaluation, you'll be given a ballpark idea of what they will do and the cost. You'll also be given an estimate for any potential expenses such as X-rays. You would be called for authorization should the X-rays or any other expenses arise. No surprises. Constant communication is their specialty. It's what I expect but have rarely ever seen at a Vets office. I'm so glad I found this place. The office is clean and the staff very friendly. Prices are amazingly reasonable.

My review pertains to an event that happened months ago. My dog began vomiting one night suddenly. She had been much less active that day and was acting differently but we had no clue anything was wrong until she started getting sick. Her health declined rapidly and we didn't know what was wrong. She got a fever and was shivering and was so sick I wasn't sure she was going to make it. We took her to our normal vet and they told us she had an infection in her uterus which they could see on X-ray and that they would need to do emergency surgery to remove her uterus and the surgery would cost $1200. Before committing to have the surgery we decided to have a second opinion because our vet didn't actually let us see the X-ray and just wanted us to give them $1200 right then in order to save our dog's life. Of course we would do anything to save her life, but the symptoms just didn't match up completely. My mother in law uses this vet and told us to go here for a second opinion. They did xrays and blood work and it turned out she had a horrible stomach bug due to eating a raw bone with meat still attached that was purchased at a pet store. They prescribed antibiotics and anti nausea meds and she was feeling better within hours. The other vet clearly didn't see what they claimed they saw in the X-ray because that is not what was making her sick and if we had gone ahead with the surgery as they suggested we would have lost our best friend. I am so thankful that Westside has an experienced vet that is honest and caring. I highly recommend Westside Animal Hospital. Also, after this experience I warn people to not give their dogs any raw meat, even if purchased specifically for dogs.

Westside Animal Hospital has been my veterinarian practice of choice for 25 years. Dr. Wilkes has provided care for 6 of my beloved pets. I have always received prompt, courteous, informed vet care. When our sweet Apollo vanished the night before the ice storm in 2014, Dr.Wilkes care team, Jane, Kathy and Monika allowed me to post a lost flyer that remained on their lost wall for over a year. The staff were the epitome compassion and understanding when we had to euthanize my dear 17 year old cat. The have provided kind patient care to our very rambunctious 100+ mixed breed dog. Now that Dr. Hawkins is leading the practice, we have received the same wonderful care. I dislike that the late office hours one night a week, are no longer available. It was very convenient to have the opportunity to schedule an appointment after the work day.
