This company traps you into a three year contract that ends up costing you thousands. Be prepared to commit your child to them for three years. The only way out of the contract is if you move farther than 25 miles away from one of their locations. They have strategically placed their locations so that if you move to a different part of town you are always 25 miles from one of their locations. Also, if you do sign their contract, make sure that you contact them in writing close to when the contract ends because if YOU do not go out of your way to tell them that you want the contract to end when it is supposed to end they will continue charging your card every month as...read full review
Great instructors and curriculum and culture . Smyrna is lucky to have them . The instructors not only have practicedTkd or adjacent traditional martial arts at a high level but they continue to pursue teaching as well as learning with unbridled enthusiasm . Curriculum is easily accessible anywhere with internet and this is actually rare in my experience.
Beware of 18 month required term. When my child originally starting attending martial arts classes at Tonchu I repeatedly inquired about a requirement to stay enrolled for a certain period of time as I had read some bad reviews online related to their payment policies. Tonchu repeatedly assured me that there was no such requirement and that they would work with me if my child ever wanted to stop classes. Given these assurances, we agreed to sign my child up and start paying the monthly amount for classes. My child lost interest in the classes after about 20 months of attending, when they were moved to a different class. I called Tonchu in inform them that we wished to unenroll my child at that time, but he might wish to come back once he got older. Tonchu then stated that there was an 18 month contractual period, which they claimed auto-renewed two months ago and they indicated I would have to keep paying the monthly fees for another 16 months. I requested that they send me a copy of any contract. However, Tonchu has not sent me a copy of such contract and so I am unable to verify the supposed terms. I would never have knowingly signed a child that is under 5 years old up for an 18 month enrollment period- it is not a reasonable expectation for a child of that age. However, Tonchu has continued to insist that I pay for an additional 16 month period and seems to be intentionally vague about its required enrollment period.
