“I recently attended a visitation for my friend's father who passed away after struggling with cancer for many years. The Smith, Dennis-Smith Funeral home is centrally located on Campelton Rd and has ample parking. I was warmly greeted by a staff member, and the signage to the visitation was clear. The environment was welcoming and calming, particularly for someone who is grieving at the moment.“

“I had the most wonderful experience with this company. It is under sad circumstances to be working with them, and I wish more companies offered the level of customer service they do. I originally order this for my dog who passed away in 2021. When his brother died in January of 2023 I thought it would be nice to collect their ashes together in the same urn. I reached out to see if the engraved disk could be updated to reflect both of my boy's names. With no problems what so ever, they were able to do so (and for a more than fair amount I may add.) When my package arrived a few days later, it was an entirely new urn. I emailed customer support to see if this was a mistake. They loving replied that they just sent an entirely new urn in case there was an issue, I wouldn't have the hassle of dealing with it. How FREAKING thoughtful of them. Putting your best friend to rest is extremely sad and hard to process, the fact that they eliminated any additional stress in my situation is huge. I am beyond thankful, and cannot say enough kind words about this company. The urn is beautiful, my boys are together and this was the easiest online transaction I've made. Their customer service says a lot about the company and their ethics, they are doing something really, really right. Good job and thank you for being so kind.“

“This funeral home is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Wimby, their daughter, and extended and family members. I met Marcus in high school 50 years ago, and had no idea that he became a mortician until approximately 11 years ago, when I needed to get something notarized. Since I was close to the Fourth Ward Area, I knew that I could find a notary at a funeral home. I chose to go to Haugabrooks Funeral Home, where Iwas warmly greeted by the Wimbys' daughter,who told me that she would get her dad to help me. Much to my surprise, my classmate, Marcus, was who she got. Based on the standards of, high scholastic achievement, combined with a work ethic. that presented us with the necessary tools to succeed in any professional capacity we chose, while we attended high school together, combined with th Wimbys' humble demeanor, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of their services. When my parents married in 1949, they soon established a business relationship with Hines Homes of Funeral, which was originally located at Piedmont Avenue and Pine Streets. Thiis the funeral home our family has used, then and still does, for our immediate needs. We now have an additional company we can use,that is my only child, and I can rely on: That is, Haugabrooks Funeral Home. (I have already written my Yelp review for Hines Homes of Funerals). My son will be instructed again, to follow his "Mom's Request", and utilize both Hines Home of Funerals and Haugabrooks Funeral Home.“

“A home going service for our brother, Anthony, was held at Herschel Thornton’s yesterday. The Thorthon’s were loving, caring, kind, and understanding and truly seemed to care about ensuring that our brother was well taken care of.. Many blessings to the Thorthon family for helping us during this extremely difficult time. Update: I was Anthony’s primary caregiver for 10 years before he passed away but, while I was in extreme pain after falling on the night he passed, my family members handled the arrangements, which did not honor his memory. I am still hurt by my niece’s insistence on rushing to have the funeral at her convenience and his ex-wife who is now married to a woman took over the services making it all about praising herself instead of honoring my brother. I had to rely on my sister and niece to handle the arrangements since I was in so much pain. But the way that they and his ex-wife took over was a “slap in the face” of my brother’s memory. His ex-wife had the nerve to say “If I could, I’d kiss him and wake him up and marry him all over again.” How could she lie that way when she’s now married to a woman?! Yet, through all that mess, Hershel Thornton tried their best to mitigate the damage that vindictive family members had caused, so I still recognize the excellence of Herschel Thornton. Moral: in your time of grief, don’t let your family take over your love one’s celebration of life since it’s the last day to honor their life while on earth. I love you, Anthony! I always will! ❤️“

“Young Funeral Home and staff showed professional and courtesy to the family of Otis L Blackshear Jr from start to finish. The family was very pleased with the body. They had him looking like himself. They meant all of our requirements and the some. Mrs Patricia who drove the limousine for the familywas so incredible and comforting to the family throughout the day.
