First time getting my haircut today with Elizabeth. She is amazing and I am so very happy that I found someone to cut my hair, in my neighborhood!! She did a great job and made me feel right at home and comfortable from the minute I opened the door. Joey is pretty cool too
Elizabeth has been cutting my hair for many, many years. Her shop used to be on the backside of the building where the Corner Tavern is located. I've been getting big kudos on my hair cuts for all those years, especially from the women who dined at the restaurant I worked at for twenty years. These women pay $50 plus for their cuts, old Buckhead money, and were astounded at the price I paid. Even after Elizabeth raised the price to a whopping $14. After years I realized I could stop plucking and get my eyebrows done there too. Now I always call ahead and ask Elizabeth to turn on the wax. I've never had a really long wait even recently when I went in a few days before Christmas, which really surprised me. As far as the reactionary trash talk is concerned, I too was glad when E. asked a certain person to stay away. Believe it or not, when I moved to East Point back in the '80's that person was on the city council. A few years ago I had to go somewhere on a Monday afternoon and since they are closed on Monday I got my hair cut somewhere else. Huge mistake that won't happen again. It's amazing how many people are incapable of a simple bob.
I have been getting my hair cut here since I moved to EP in 2006. A very good cut at a great price. The issues that Keith W mentions are no longer an issue. The main offender was told to leave by the owner years ago. Then about a year ago, a beauty shop on Washington Rd. lost it's space due to a fire, so the owner Elizabeth graciouslly offered them space in her shop, and in fact they have decided to stay. Therefore not much room for folks to just "hang out" there anymore. But you do get the great vibe of a neighborhood barber and beauty salon in one. And alot of the equipment is vintage, so it really is like going back in time. And if you are lucky, the parrot will be parked in his favorite place, under one of the hair dryers, which is truly a sight to be seen.
