The Pineywood Cemetery is located at the corner of Glenridge Way and Lakemont Avenue. This historic African-American cemetery was established in 1890. During segregation it was the only place African-Americans could be buried so it is a very sacred place to the community. It was managed by the Pineywood Cemetery Association but in 1970 the cemetery was deeded to the city of Winter Park. The cemetery is extremely well kept and is in better condition than many I have visited. The thing that intrigued me the most is there is an app you can download, WPC Explorer that gives you a virtual tour of 21 of the most notable people buried in Pineywood.
