My name is Karen Bernard. I am currently at Encompass in sunrise Florida. I have been here since December 2024. I am currently a patient of an auto immune disease call Dermato myositis I got this disease after Covid. It is a long term disease that has been affecting people internationally after either having the Covid virus or the Covid vaccinations. Disease there is no cure there is only medicine combinations that can help the patient I am currently taken plasma, infusions, steroids, and immune suppressant medication Before my life was very athletic I was able to do Bootcamp spin Pilates walk many miles every week When I got diagnosed with this disease, my muscles in my shoulders, and my legs became very weak, and it was a challenge to walk and sit up and stand up I am currently at the rehab to help me regain my ability to live to work to have a life The only problem is, I need to go to get infusions every month, but because I am currently at the center, they are not allowing me to go to my infusions and then come back to the center although I assure that I will be able to commit to the treatment that necessary for my treatments and survival I am begging and pleading to the management. This is a new disease. This is a new situation and I absolutely understand that they are protocols in place. Send me prematurely and to be so absolutely weak and unable to take care of myself when I can simply get my infusions and come back to the center commit to my three classes of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy My insurance is in total agreement that I can go for my therapy and still be at the rehab center with no loss to contract Again, I beg to management I am desperate please let me just go for my treatments and return to the facility so you can make me strong again. That’s all I really really want to not interrupt my treatments which I desperately desperately need.
