We are first time pool owners. We purchased our home on June 24th 2022. The previous owners used this company to service their pool. They had the monthly pool service paid for until June 30/July 1. On June 30th 2022 at 1:38pm I called Custom Pool & Spa Mechanics to give them my payment info for auto pay to ensure the service would continue. On that phone call I asked the lady to please have their pool person call me when they come for their weekly maintenance visit (which I'm now paying $147.50/mo to have someone come out once a week for) so while they are there they can show me how to use the new pool jet timer they installed for the previous owner. It wasn't an emergency so I just asked to show me on their next maintenance visit. At that time I was NOT informed that was going to be considered an emergency call OR that I would be charged an additional fee. On Friday, July 1st the pool person called me to let me know he was on his way to show me the pool timer. I let him know I had somewhere to be at 1:30pm so if it was going to be after that to just wait until the next time he came to service the pool. I was told the day before that they provide the weekly maintenance services every Friday. On this visit the person did NOT perform any service on my pool other than his less than 5min visit to show me how the pool timer worked. He even laughed saying that was easy & probably the quickest visit he's ever had. Again, being completely new to pools & this monthly service, at the time I didn't think much of it. After several weeks had gone by I never saw another pool person come to my house. I am a stay at home mom. I have met the lawn person every week while he has been there but somehow have never seen or met another pool person at my house?? Weeks went by... I started noticing my pool was turning green? Then noticed the jets were blowing air bubbles? Then watched the pool water line drop by over a foot. I started to investigate on my own on July 30th 2022. I realized the water level had gotten so low (with no one using it) that it had dropped below the filter. No water was going into the filter causing the air bubbles to come out of the jets. It took me over 3hrs to fill the pool enough to stop the air bubbles from the jets. I was kind of irritated that I was paying $147.50/mo to have a "professional" come out weekly to ensure the pool was in proper working order yet it appeared no one had even been there. On Monday, August 1st 2022 I called CPSM to request a cancelation of their services. At first the lady was nice. I honestly wasn't even going to bother with complaining, I just wanted to cancel. As soon as she asked why I wanted to cancel her attitude changed quickly. I told her all of the above to which she replied with everything but telling me I was lying. She told me if their pool person hadn't been there my pool would be green. To which I told her it had been. She then told me if my water line was that low they would have notified me, which they did not. And that if i was filling the pool before their weekly visit they wouldn't have known to inform me. I hadn't filled the pool. I didn't even know i was supposed to or that that was MY job since I was paying someone to do it. She then told me if I had air bubbles coming out of my jets I should have called them for an emergency visit. Well, if anyone had actually been there to service my pool when she claimed they had been they would have noticed the air bubbles. It was causing the water to look like a bubbly hot tub. They wouldn't have missed it, especially a professional who does this for a living! She then tells me to cancel I have a bill balance of $245!! I asked for what?! She said $147.50 for my July monthly service (which I called on June 30th & gave them my card to auto pay with...she kept telling me repeatedly that I had not.
