This message is in response to the negative review left by Mary P. on Yelp on May 31st, 2022. Mary, there several questions and concerns regarding your recent post. Working at the practice as well as being present during the exchange you had with another employee, makes your review all the more questionable. According to records, your earliest visit that remains in the system was with a different pet in 2014. So at the very least you have been using Jackson Veterinary Hospital for the past 8 years. The visit in question began on 05/19/2022 for boarding until 05/24/2022 - the day your dog was groomed. The groomer, Elaine does have an assistant who she is training to become a groomer. The statement you made: "Elaine, the head groomer lets students groom your dog and then charges full price like they know what they are doing." is false, misleading, and defamatory. Elaine does none of these things. If a groomer in training is doing any work to anyones pet, Elaine is required to observe and take over if needed. In addition to that, she always examines every dog before contacting the owner. Pricing is based on a pets size, as well as coat length, and type of groom requested. When you arrived to pick up on 05/24, you were not satisfied with the groom. You were offered to have your dog taken back on the spot to make any corrections. That did not happen that day - you rescheduled for another day. You rescheduled for a day that Elaine herself told you that she may not be available due to a family member being gravely ill. That day was 05/31/2022. You were made aware that Elaine was not in that day. You still kept that appointment. This is where things become confusing. Your other statements suggest that you wouldn't want for a student to groom your pet, so why keep that appointment? Why not wait until the head groomer is back? But it doesn't end there. Then you state that parts of the groom were skipped and that there were uneven areas as well as actual injury. If you are willing to become so irate over an uneven area, it would stand to reason that a cut or scrape would elevate your frustrations. But That was never mentioned to anyone at the practice. In fact, the first anyone has heard of a cut or scrape was in your review. Had that actually occurred, there are 4 Veterinarians who can and certainly would examine and treat any wound as necessary, especially if it were to be caused by any staff member. Another concern is "They said it was my dogs fault because she was a difficult puppy." That is not what was said. You were told that certain areas were more difficult to do because your dog is still a puppy. That is not an insult or a way to deflect blame away from ones self. It is just a simple statement of fact. Even the most experienced groomers can have difficulty achieving perfectly straight, even lines on younger, more active peppy dogs, especially puppies. As most know, puppies can be anxious, highly energetic and not very content with sitting still. It takes time, training, reaching maturity as well as several grooming sessions for dogs to learn to be still when being groomed. This shouldn't be difficult to understand. Your behavior, as witnessed by several clients and staff was entirely off the wall, uncalled for and unacceptable. Yes, you did make the assistant cry. You refused any offers to remedy the situation, left the practice only to then email the practice manager (who also was witness to your outburst) to claim that it was staff who were mistreating you. Additionally, it would be interesting to know how management at Del Mar would feel about a client using an open forum to declare that one of their employees is making libelous statements about another veterinary provider. It would be an uncomfortable discussion to have, and certainly an unwanted one. Practices do not bad mouth one another. If anything, they just apologize for a bad experience and hope that you have a positive one with them. Clients being upset with services is regrettable for any business, and efforts were made to t

They took great care of my cats and Dr Crabb was great; Charlie had to have 2 teeth pulled his teeth cleaned and when I got him home he acted like he hadn't been through surgery

Jackson Veterinary Hospital is fabulous. I have been taking my golden retriever, Sukha, there for years. Even thought I have moved further south, I still travel the distance as Dr. Crabb is fabulous. I wouldn't think of changing vets! The staff is responsive and the follow up is excellent. I would highly recommend this clinic. I have always found the staff to be helpful, courteous, and spending a great deal of time with Sukha and her "people" owners! Thanks to the clinic for excellent care!
