I've been getting my hair cut here for nearly 15 years. I've had several different hairstyles. They've mastered all of them! They have white guys, my Latino homies and my black fam! Do you understand what I'm saying? It doesn't matter what kind of hair you got! They've seen it all bro! And not just you bro! I've seen ladies getting their eyebrows done too! Bottom line. Go bruh. Frfr. Go bruh. 🫡
I visited this past weekend 1/7/23 because I was looking for a black barbershop. I chose them because I grew my hair out during the pandemic and it was time for something new. I was intrigued when I saw they had the Steve Harvey award so my expectations were higher than they should've been. When I arrived it was clear that their heyday had passed and they had settled in to just being another black barbershop. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that. All that shiny, sparkly stuff should for salons and there should be some type of "grit" at the barbershop since it's kinda like a public man cave. When I arrived I was a bit dismayed when I saw the amount of people waiting but those were all appointments. Whew! I must've looked like a new, lost face because one of the guys asked me if I was waiting on anybody and when I told him I wasn't he immediately went to find a barber that wasn't busy. I appreciated his expeditious attitude. It didn't feel like he was just tryna get me in and out. It felt more like he was just tryna help. I know this because I've been to PLENTY of shops that if you don't personally walk up and introduce yourself to a random barber and ask how long the wait is yo a$$ will be sitting there until closing time. They were playing old school jams which was a vibe in itself. That really gave it a traditional barbershop feel. Too many barbershops nowadays look like pop up shops (here today, gone tomorrow). I don't need all the extra amenities, I just need my haircut. Fast forward. I showed my barber a pic of how I wanted my cut and I was pretty detailed about what I wanted and didn't want him to do. So I wasn't stressing the outcome. In the end, I was happy with the cut and the shop. I uploaded a pic of their price list. That was probably the only issue I had. You can make up your mind about their pricing system but I personally don't like that they separate a Caesar and a fade which, to a regular consumer, is the same thing. When I see those types of tactics I start to feel like I'm being nickel and dimed. I don't understand how much extra time a professional barber will need to lighten up the sides that constitutes a higher charge but I digress. My "normal" cut came to $30 but I still tipped my barber an extra $10 because I gotta support black owned businesses.
Cut N Corners is a great shop to get a hair cut. They have been around for a while & have an amazing team. These guys have been cutting for years and can accommodate anyone, not to mention that they have won the prestigious Steve Harvey "Hoodie Award", for the best Barber ahop in the counrty. I get my hair cut by Reggie, one of the best in the shop, but any chair that you sit in, you'll be good and well taken care of. I definitely recommend this shop, which also comes with your normal fun shop chat. There are vending machines for snacks and drinks, TV's showing movies or spots, music on the laid back and relaxed days, with plenty of seating in the waiting area. If you do happen to visit, ask for Reggie and mention that Darnell sent you. Other top barbers, Chris, Drew, Sharpe, Mark, Rich and so on...... DC
