I am a physician and recently took my wife to Bascom Palmer for routine cataract surgery. This included two visits for the day surgery and 3 routine follow ups. Although the Dr's care was tops, the organization of the clinic visits is awful and shameful. One typically waits 3 hours for a 15 minute MD visit. If I made patients wait hours every time they came to the office I wouldn't have many patients. People have other things to do rather than wait because the system doesn't know how to properly book patients. Bascom Palmer needs expert help on this before I will go back
I've been a patient here since 2021 when I moved from NJ. I would travel an hour to Wills Eye Hospital for my vision care. I've had some serious eye issues and needed top quality care since moving to Florida. There was only one place that I would trust my vision and that was Bascom Palmer. For me, it's a two and a half hour trip to Palm Beach Gardens but well worth it. Check in is quick and I'm usually here for about two hours time. The techs are well trained in checking out my eyes with the latest equipment for the Doctor to evaluate. I have every confidence that I'm getting the best possible care.
I reluctantly give 3 stars because all the negative complaints you read are true, and I did wind up leaving in frustration for more attentive private care. The doctors are excellent, but it all falls apart in the translation.....huge waits, new people each visit, etc. I also felt that I was rushed through everything with little concern for less invasive procedures. In the end, I did my cataracts there, but not the more extensive glaucoma surgery they pushed.
