“So of course being here for only 4.5 years and having very FEW people that look like me, I would be hesitant to have someone do my brows. But the chic who does my locs (shout out to @cocoalocs) gave me the recommendation so I thought I’d give them a try. First off, I was greeted with a warm welcome. The aura of the place has to make me feel right. Second, they had some calming music playing but it wasn’t some crazy kind of music that made me feel like ? but just kind of like I could bob my head and my heart rate could slow down at the same time. Then I meet Kelly. Warm smile, but edgy. Cool but cautious. Let me dive in, but I’m careful not to scare you. I’m go as in as you let me. I liked it. Working in psychiatry, I got her and she got me. We kicked it off. She made me feel comfortable, told me what to expect. I told her fears, she calmed them and when she got started, I didn’t even know! If you’re asking yourself whether you should go to Beauty and the Brow and get ANYTHING done, I’m a NOLA girl and we don’t trust NOBODY and I’m telling you DON’T TRUST NOBODY ELSE!! “I need a haircut fixed from a different salon & decided to walk in last minute to Beauty Bar @ Alta Moda and i’m SO glad I did! They were so welcoming and sweet. Aly helped fixed my haircut and gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for. She seemed to be very knowledgeable about everything & knew exactly what I wanted. She squeezed me in since I didn’t have an appt, did not make me feel rushed & even washed my hair & gave me a blowout! I couldn’t be more happy with the results! The cut was exactly what I wanted and she took the time to blow my hair dry and straighten it with a flat iron. “Very easy scheduling. Due to her busy schedule she prefers booking directly off her IG: @beautybarbyjanet but she is also happy to accept calls in between clients. Her chic salon is in the high-end of West Hartford in the Blue Back Square in the Marshalls plaza, so ample free parking. She has elevator services that’ll take you up to her suite, concierge can walk you down to her. She is always happy to see her clients and honestly it feels like visiting a good friend. The loft is super cute and very inviting. Her lashing is superb, i loved that she listened to what I envisioned and she was super professional in her recommendations to protect the integrity of my natural lashes. I have gone to a LOT of technicians and honestly I immediately could tell the difference in going to a certified tech vs going to her who is licensed. My lashes lasted 3-4 weeks before I needed a mini fill. Her prices are reasonable compared to others. The music is always on point, the deep relaxation is immediate when you arrive. I’ll continue to go to her. Def recommend.“
