Our tenant claims the AC failed at a rental home we own in Greenwich. He called Mazur Mechanical to pump coolant and gave us the invoice for $300. I'm used to dealing with professional HVAC companies where they detail all the charges with a breakdown of costs. Mazur's invoice only stated R-410A Gas which they charged $180 and a service call of $120.00. When I called for further clarification of what was wrong with the A/C and how much Gas did they pump, he could not give me an answer, as "this is what the tech wrote." 'Stan' has been maintaining my heating and a/c for about 10 years. Today he came out within 30 minutes when the gas boiler was not operating and the temperature in the house had fallen to 59 degrees. he made a temporary fix and then called back to say that he could get back later today with one of the parts needed, but wanted to come back on monday as well when another part would be in as a precaution. on an earlier heating issue, several years ago, he told me the issue was merely a faulty thermostat that i could replace for $25 and save a bundle of money. guys like stan are very rare.
