I first met Jon Day in 2013, when he designed and fabricated screen windows for the Steel House at Connecticut College, a modernist gem from the 1930s. Jon immediately grasped the need to create low-maintenance screens that would be easy to handle and that would also be in keeping with the building’s unusual design. As a member of the Board of Trustees of a religious institution on the Connecticut shoreline, we hired Jon Day and his firm, DAY & AGE, to renovate a small building that had not been upgraded since it was built in 1947. We relied on Jon, who worked closely with an architect friend who recommended Jon to us, to help design the renovations and carry them out.A budget was established at the beginning of the project along with a timeline. Jon was committed to bringing the project in on budget and on time, which he did magnificently. I was a little nervous about having my parents house repaired and painted as I had never been involved in a project of this size before and the house has a lot of meaning to me as it's where I grew up. We chose Jon Day as he had done some work previously for us that we were very happy with and liked how he did business. The house had some water damage that needed to be repaired and also offered some challenges from previous work that was done. He also installed some new flooring for us..
