I used baking soda & vinegar, I used 409, I used a wet vac with bissel rug cleaner… it got browner and more matted with each attempt.I called ServiceMaster and they had their crew at my house two days later. I forget their names, but very nice guys. Instead of just cleaning the roughly 2’x2’ stain like I hoped, they did the entire 18’ rug. “These guys were great. I forgot I had company coming to the house in two days and needed to have a couple of carpeted rooms and a set of stairs cleaned along with a sofa and two area rugs. They came the same day I called. All of the stains were removed but more importantly they were able to get rid of the smell of cat urine from the carpets. My cat went through a period where she peed on them a bunch of times and I tried everything to get rid of the odor myself, but nothing they worked. They only did it today, so I can’t speak to the longevity, but the smell is definitely gone and it isn’t just covered up with a fragrance. They have a special chemical they use and the best thing is that if the smell returns they’ll come back out for no charge. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because I thought their price for cleaning the sofa was high ($350). The cost for the carpet cleaning was reasonable. I would definitely use them again.“
