“First, the good: the spa facilities are beautiful and very clean, a relaxing vibe as soon as you enter. The staff are attentive and professional. My husband and I had a couples massage while staying at the resort for a weekend. My massage therapist, Joshua, was absolutely amazing and I had one of the best massage experiences of my life. I really appreciated how carefully Joshua paid attention to my body’s specific needs; this was not a cookie cutter massage, he really customized it to meet my needs and pay special attention to my funky shoulder. My husband’s massage therapist was Victor and he also had a great experience. Having recently had shoulder surgery, he had some specific needs and Victor took great care of him.

Now, the not so good: the spa does not have its own locker room facility, but rather shares it with the large athletic club on property. The facility itself is beautiful and has many great amenities. However, I got a very clear “non-members aren’t welcome” vibe from the other ladies in the locker room. While I was showering after my treatment, someone came and started banging on my door and trying to enter my shower space. I couldn’t see her clearly through the frosted glass, but it appeared to be another guest, and she wouldn’t go away for several minutes. There were many unsupervised young teenagers using the facilities, whispering and laughing at other guests; I felt like the new kid in a high school gym. Finally, even other adults in the space were making rude, unwelcoming comments (e.g., “I’m going to go sit in the sauna, and hopefully when I come out *the riff raff* will be gone.”) Cool, I definitely enjoy being described as riff raff at a 4-star resort after paying $500 for a massage. This was a quick way to stomp out all the relaxation that I’d just achieved in my massage.

All in all, I would probably return if in town again because the service quality was spectacular, but would avoid the athletic club in general as it’s very clear that there’s an in-crowd and if you’re not in, you’re not welcome.“
