FYI, this is a long post but worth reading and hope you can learn from it too like I do. I had this very weird situation that happened to me today for the first time in my life. I've been to many different kinds of consultations, whether it's with a doctor, makeup artist, hairstylist, or any other service provider. Anyway, we just moved here to Northern Colorado from Houston, so I'm searching for new service providers. In this case, I'm looking for a new hairstylist for myself. First of all, I am not a morning person, but from time to time and in some situations, I can get up and start my day early, even if I'm in a half-zombie mood. Lol. I had a hair appointment at Studio Be Salon at 9 a.m., and I made sure I wouldn't be late. I saw on their reviews that if you're late, they will have to reschedule you, so I made sure to respect their time as well. I arrived there 5 minutes before 9 a.m. and had already filled out the form online ahead of time. I was greeted and seated by their pretty receptionist. So far, I am feeling a good vibe from the salon and the other hairstylists there. I am very observant, and the salon itself is clean and modern-looking. They offered me a drink, but I had already brought my own coffee anyways so im good. By 9:06 a.m., the hairstylist I was going to see came out, greeted me, and asked me to move from the lobby chair to the shampoo bowl chair. I was a bit confused at first because I didn't realize that we would also be doing the consultation there. I thought she would shampoo my hair right away. Haha That was a relief! I even asked her if she wanted to take a before photo since she supposedly charged a "model price" for my hair service. Ashley Hupp, my hairstylist (supposedly), had shown me again the inspiration photos I sent her so we could talk about them in person. This is part of the consultation process, until we can both agree on what I want to have done, what she can do, and what they have available at the salon and the amount I will have to pay in the end. We went back and forth on the color of the highlights. I honestly told her what I have used on my hair and when the last time I had used lightener was, which was probably about two or three years ago also done by my professional hairstylist and friend in Houston. I have only been doing my roots touch-ups myself with a professional brand. Specifically, I used Wella KP level 6 or 7 with 20 or 30 volume developer to cover some gray hair on my hairline and also to just lift my natural color (dark brown) , to brown/reddish, to a lighter tone, which I also explained to her. I also used Olaplex for hair products to keep my hair healthy as much as possible, especially coming from blonde (level 8 to 9 before) to medium brown again two years ago. Most of the bleached hair from the blonde days had almost been cut off already, and my current hair color is just from professional permanent hair dye (level 6-7). I only asked for face-framing highlights and the bottom part (it shows in the inspiration photo Ive sent) which means it's just partial highlights and maybe a toner as well to achieve the color that I want. She also kept showing me these highlights haircolor photos that had dark hair with kind of reddish-orange highlights, and I told her I didn't like the reddish-orange highlights. I think the reason she kept showing me that color tone is because of the red tone in my hair. That's also why the inspiration photos I sent to her have more caramel-toned highlights, so it will be easier for her in the beginning since I'm not wanting to be blonde or very light. I'm honestly trying to make it simple for her as I know my hair a lot, and I told her all the products I've used, even the brand and the levels/tones. When we both decided on the style, placement, and hair color she was going to use, she then went back again to the back. But before that I also asked to make sure they had the hair color that she showed me in their swatch book before she started. She said y
