“Competent, Professional, and Chris Jacobs makes R&H a standout Mechanical Contractor.I had the opportunity to work with R&H Mechanical on a full condo remodel (down to exterior framing) in Vail Village. The Building was built in 1972 and has had several upgrades over the years complicating the hydronic baseboard radiant heating system. Since this unit is above the unconditioned parking garage, I also wanted to add hydronic radiant heat throughout the unit to address the chronically cold floors. The kitchen, bath and bedroom locations changed in the new architectural layout, requiring new routing for kitchen exhaust, all bath exhaust fans, mechanical controls, thermostats and hydronics.I interviewed several other contractors (PSI and Skyline) who seemed like good companies and competent to complete the work that I needed done. However, the deciding factor for my decision was meeting Chris Jacobs, Account Executive for R&H. He is completely next level in his approach, solution design, and overall management/ownership of a project. While I have some experience with radiant systems, Chris is truly an expert and helped design a two stage system with Warmboard-R above slab radiant panels, Runtal radiant baseboards, and Ecobee thermostats. He was also able to design a system that hid all mechanical controls (actuator, mixing valve, manifolds, and distribution) in a small hall closet so that we could maximize the architectural layout of the new space. Throughout design, he was patient and worked with me to weigh the cost/benefit of various systems and approaches that we could use in this system.Throughout our mechanical system build I had numerous interactions with the R&H team. On several occasions in the construction process we damaged new and existing radiant piping in the slab. On each of these occasions R&H came out and was able to fix the piping on the first visit. I know small fixes like these are frustrating for trades as they take the team away from other jobs, but the guys always made it happen which makes all the difference for a contractor when time really counts. I wrote many of the guys names down as they worked on our project and have to give a big shout out to Joel, Ben, Ramon, Timo, Scott, and Marco who all worked together to make this project happen in a short amount of time.Another big challenge that R&H worked through was Kitchen exhaust venting and bathroom exhaust venting. Both Chris and Scott spent a great deal of time evaluating and crafting a routing strategy that would vent the kitchen exhaust hood above the new kitchen cabinets to the exterior with a custom fabricated rigid duct.I've worked with many trade partners over the years, but i was truly impressed by the commitment and execution by the R&H team led by Chris.
