Dr. Dan Mones is the kindest, most compassionate vet. After we lost our sweet dog last weekend, Dr. Mones called my husband and me separately to answer all of our questions and talk us through what had happened. He never rushed us to get off the phone or dismissed our concerns. His staff caught the tumor 1 1/2 years ago when it was very small, allowing our boy to live a full life until recently. We are forever grateful.
It saddens me to give only 3 stars as most staff there (receptionists, vet techs, veterinarians) are superb. But I cannot help noticing that something has changed. Has the hospital been purchased by a veterinary corporation? Dr. Mones is exceptional but except for the annual exam, I cannot make appointments with him - it is whoever is available. I took one of my dogs there and I had the veterinarian who was nice and capable. But I had one of the meds that she prescribed at home. I understand that the vet wanted to know the name, strength, and expiration date as a due diligence. But this vet asked me to bring the bottle so that she could check. Purchasing medications here is extremely expensive. I have so many friends in the industry so I know the cost base (I also understand the vet has to pay for operating costs such as real estate, personnel expenses etc - so of course nobody can offer medications at cost). Fortunately, I had the order email for that particular medication on my phone so I could show it to her as a proof. It was a very negative experience. I went back there. And the vet tech, Ellie, was extremely rude. She was asking me questions and it was almost like interrogation. No smile, no personality, just with attitudes. "AI" would have had more personality and politeness. My dog had a very aggressive form of cancer. As I was being interrogated by Ellie, I looked at my dog. He had this expression on him that I had never seen. I cannot forget that expression. He clearly saw through her. We had to let my dog's spirit go free at home next day. I am so sorry that my dog had to deal with her. I have no idea why she decided to be a vet tech if she had no interest in connecting with patients or clients. I know many capable vet techs with knowledge and experience. In addition to those qualities, many have compassions, which she completely lacks. What did she try to prove to be nasty? Because I was not impressed at all! I have been happy with this veterinary hospital, but if I decided to change the vet, it was because of her.
Wonderful and caring! Thank you! We brought our 20 year old cat today. Amazing, wonderful experience! The staff made our cat feel safe, and cared for-purred until bloodwork! Their skill and knowledge was impressive! We had been with another vet clinic for 19 years. But lost trust and faith of the vets. Too much pushing and up selling! Alpine is a wonderful fit. They met us perfectly for the phase of life for our old kitty!
