My husband died 4 days ago. He was Jewish, I am not. I bought a burial plot at our local non-sectarian cemetery so that we could be buried together. But I noticed, as I discussed mortuary services with them, that the cemetery mortuary wasn't really knowledgeable about Jewish burial customs. So I looked around and found the Chevra Kadisha Mortuary. I am so thankful that I chose their services. My husband died on a Saturday when the mortuary would normally be closed, but they sent someone out right away to pick up his body from our home. Of course they know all the Jewish rituals and I was confident that everything would be done correctly. We had originally decided on a Wednesday burial but on Monday we suddenly had to move the date forward to Tuesday and the mortuary was able to handle that with little complaint. Because they had several burials already arranged for Tuesday, they had to deliver my husband to the cemetery in a mini-van instead of a hearse (OK by me) and find another driver to drive him. I spoke to both Aaron and Naomi during this time, and they were both very kind and helpful. The mini-van driver (I think he was one of the funeral directors of the company) was also very nice and helpful at our graveside ceremony at the cemetery.
We were so grateful to Chevra Kadisha for helping us in a tough time. They were very efficient, reliable and dependable. I appreciate the compassion and kindness from everyone here. We needed you and you guys were there for us. Thank You!!
Chevra Kadisha is an exceptional mortuary. Yossi helped me through the process and was very thoughtful and kind. If you are looking for a Jewish mortuary in Los Angeles (whether you are Reformed or Orthodox), this is the place to go to for mortuary services.
