When I lived in the Bay Area, I was a clinical-trial participant. As a Type 1 diabetic, I participated in many clinical trials, some in-depth, that took a month or longer, and some very quick, one- or two-visit studies. Most of them, in my case, were administered by Dr. Mark Christiansen. He is a professional and competent doctor, and yet a VERY helpful, kind and understanding person. I highly recommend participating in clinical studies there!
