This derm office is definitely outdated compared to most offices, but the doctor and staff are very professional and kind. Dr. Carlton is through and explains issues very well. He seems to very busy and sometimes hard to get a in, but I haven't had any issues.

Although this office did correctly DX the cause of my persistent rash, ("Cutaneous C Cell Lymphoma"), the whole cancer thing was kind of mentioned down the road, as an aside as I was leaving the office to go on a vacation. It seemed more like a comment, "Yeah, it is cancer", like someone saying, "Are you going to the Farmers Market this weekend"? Needless to say, my vacation was spent researching that type of cancer instead of at the beach...The office on Tennessee St., in Vallejo, Ca. always smelled kind of musty, like they've had a long-term leak in the roof, but the office overall was pretty clean, and the Dr & his staff were always very nice.At each visit, I was asked to remove my shoes & socks, and get up on the exam table, which kind of freaked me out , since the only way to do so was to use an old kitchen-style footstool, that had a rubber grip pad on top, without any paper on itthat could be changed after each patient. I quickly thought about the number of people who'd gone there to be treated for foot fungus & similar issues, and as something as a "personal clean freak", it really grossed me out.As it turned out, soon I needed to change Dr's in order to get more aggressive treatment anyway.

Dr. Carlton is an excellent dermatologist. He's personable and takes the time to converse and/or answer questions you might have. Great guy! Office staff, however, aren't always as conscientious. Also, be prepared to wait beyond your appointment time. Consider it a cost of doing business with an exceptional doctor.
