I am excited to leave this review! I don't leave 5 star reviews often but I couldn't help but do so for this salon. I grew up in this area and for some reason I thought this salon catered to a particular ethnicity and boy was I wrong. This salon can do everyone's hair. I called around different places because I needed to get my hair done for the week (yes I'm too lazy to do my own hair every day), I wanted to find a salon that could do my hair that was closer to home, and I needed this stylist to be able to work with me without catching an attitude. While I was sad to have to leave the place I usually go, I was beyond excited to go to a new place for a fresh start. I spoke to the owner Chris (sorry if I misspelled her name) and she contacted her braider who got back to me immediately. She was super sweet and was able to get me in last minute to braid my hair. I arrived early and everyone was there getting ready for the day and we got started promptly at 8:30am. I changed my mind at the last minute and Leslie was still able to work her magic and give me a style that I was beyond proud of. Leslie not only cared about what I wanted my hair to look like after but gave me hints of advice about what I could do to take care of what I was working with before I came in. I told her about my plans to grow it back out and do protective styles until it was a length that I was comfortable with rocking. I also let her know that I wanted to be able to get my hair done every 7-10 days. That may sound ridiculous but I'm not good with my hair when I am left to take care of it on my own. I'm still going through the tail end of a hair identity crisis. Curls on mixed brown girls haven't always been accepted and I am learning to love what I have and how to work with it because I never did. Leslie and Chris were personable and funny and I LOVED being in that salon environment where you can share and overshare without fear of judgement. At the same time I was feeling at home and happy that I found my new home salon Leslie said "I'm glad you came here, I feel like you're in the right place." That made my entire day. We laughed, shared stories, and work was put in! Not even a few hours later I looked like a 3.0 version of myself. Leslie DID IT! I felt bad because I came in trying to pay with a card so I had to go to Ralph's to get some cash (no problem, now I know). I couldn't make my next appointment with Leslie fast enough. She gave me some great suggestions for hairstyles to think about for next time and we have a pretty good plan with regards to what we are going to do with my natural hair the next few times. My only regret was not tipping 35% because she was that great. I have no room to be picky because I have zero talent when it comes to doing my own hair however, I do know what I like. I feel heard and well taken care of. She even told me I didn't have to wash my hair, she would do it. All I know is I love my hair, I love Leslie's work, and I really like the salon. Color me impressed!
