“It was a pleasure to discover this clinic open on Saturday for emergencies when I thought my dog might have a foxtail in his ear. Since my former veterinarian retired a couple of years ago, there's been an apparent shortage of small animal practitioners in the county. It can be hard to book appointments, especially last-minute, and most places are so expensive! The staff here were friendly and gentle, the service efficient and affordable. (We were out the door for about the same amount another emergency clinic in this county charges to walk IN the door.) This hospital also offers routine veterinary care, a definite plus.“

“the ONLY place I trust with my cats. My cats are my reason for living, so I give them the best care and got them pet insurance. I drive 1.5 hours just to come here. I recently got my 3 year old's teeth cleaned, and they did an excellent job. I will say it was definitely more pricier than other places, but cats are notorious for hiding diseases that have fatal consequences, so I didn't want to skimp out on my cat's teeth cleaning.<br><br>I brought my other cat Anubis here and two other vets couldn't diagnose her and had already spent $1,200 only to be told they didn't know what was wrong with her, when she had a fever of 104 degrees. I brought her here, they give me the diagnosis in one day, and I had emergency pyometra surgery for my cat the next day (a condition in which a cat's uterus gets full of puss. I had just adopted her from a family being evicted, so she had never been to the vet before me and was already 3 years old.)<br><br>They give you updates when they are done as well, and follow up the next day. Absolutely exceptional service. My cats are everything to me.“

Dr. Megan is taking over her practice for the past five years we are very pleased with Dr. Megan. Also if you're looking for somebody to take care of your kitties cat doctor, Dr. Megan is the way to go. Rest in peace, Dr. Tracy.“

“This place is a walk in vet. No appointments are taken, you just show up. We've been taking our pups here for years & yes there is always a line, yes they are always busy no matter what day or time we go, but their doctors are awesome, which is why we continue to go here. Taking a star away because the front receptionists aren't nice & they don't respond to my presence right away. (Like they do to everyone else.) I've been next in line ready to go, only to be ignored for phone calls, dusting of keyboards, looking for "things" under the desk until they feel like helping. And when I am being helped, i'm not treated nice. They speak brusquely and there's one woman who coughs constantly without covering her mouth so that's pretty gross. Not sure if she has allergies but she's spreading her whatevers around by doing that to everyone. Just saying. So yeah front staff needs some help. Maybe extra training would do it. Other than that, this place is good.“

Very fair prices (called around, made appointments with 4 other clinics in SCV, and most affordable in the area) and always treats our babies like their own. Plus their wisdom is unmatched in taking the right approach. My dogs have complications and they give great advice geared to help (never try to rush you or sell services you don’t need). I will never look for another vet again. I HIGHLY Recommend!“

“I had to say goodbye to my beautiful dog Jasper this week, at the age of 16 1/2. And I'm heartbroken. But I wanted to take the time to write this review of Dr. A and all the people at Balboa Veterinary Medical Ctr. Dr. A. gave Jasper an extra year and a half of good quality life that we didn't think he'd get. We almost lost him at age 15 and Dr. A saved his life by correctly diagnosing a problem we didn't know he had, and getting him on a medication that got him walking again. Every time we went there, the women in the front of the office always treated him with care and kindness, and Dr. A was always responsive to questions that came up. I live a 20 minute drive from this office, but decided to come here instead of a closer vet for the past few years. It started with an emergency where we couldn't get in at any closer vet clinic, and I was so happy with the treatment we got there, that I continued to use Dr. A as our vet from that point on.“
