You have to hire Mike if you want your floor done right! We are doing a kitchen remodel in an 85 year old house. We have the original floors in our entire home and wanted to match them in the kitchen. Mike and his team did an outstanding job matching the floor so it is flush and seamless with NO threshold from the dining room to the kitchen. They had to remove four layers of flooring, about 1,000 nails and screws to get to the original layer of the home which had sunk (5 inches) in one area and swelled in another. They spent a lot of time and paid close attention to resolve the underlying issues and make them level. The floors are stunning. I am so pleased with the quality and fantastic service. They also cleaned up everywhere each day and when they were done. I would never hire anyone else to do our floors now.
We first had Mike and his team sand and refinish our floors when we moved in 25 years ago, and we subsequently had him back to refinish the floors about 8 years ago. Given the enormous foot traffic we have through our home, it was impressive enough that the floors lasted so long. We anticipated needing to resand and recoat (the most expensive option, and reducing further the lifespan of the floor), but after thoroughly examining all spaces, Mike advised us he would only need to buff and refinishing, saving us money, time, and a layer of wood. Nearly 10 years after his last visit (and 25 years after his first!), Mike and his team continue to provide exceptional service and quality work. We needed an urgent though relatively small restoration job done, in the midst of some construction. Mike was admirably accommodating and gracious. He and his brother came and did their usual superior work, and at a very fair price. I pray they will remain in this business for many more years to come, as I would not dream of relying on another company for my hardwood flooring needs.
