“I worked with Ruthie for approximately 2 years. I worked with her all throughout my pregnancy and post pardum period.
Having a strong Pilates background prior to working with Ruthie, my goals were to create 30 min-1 hour long “routines” that I could practice myself at home, on my home reformer. Another goal I had was to take existing routines Ruthie had taught me and modify them to make them safe for pregnancy, as well as learn new exercises specific for strengthening my body in preparation for birth (I did a home birth).
Ruthie is flexible, she came to my house for sessions so we could utilize my home reformer. I also went to her studio for sessions.
Ruthie is so incredibly skilled in her craft. Of all the instructors I have worked with over the last 3 decades, she is without hesitation, the most present, attuned, focused, caring, and experientially nuanced practitioner.
She paid keen attention to my movements, guiding me in subtle adjustments that had big results for me.
I work long hours as a registered nurse at a busy hospital. Unlike most mothers to be, I see, that have to go on “modified duty” several months towards the end of their pregnancy, I worked full time on the hospital floor, never going on modified.
I was strong and fit and I believe this is 100% because of the work I was doing with Ruthie all throughout my pregnancy.
My midwife said, when I gave birth, that my body was so supple and strong in all the right places for such a transition.
I also recovered much faster than many post pardum mothers my midwife had seen.
I still periodically reach out to Ruthie for private sessions, to remind myself of correct form, and to learn new exercises to add to my repertoire. She is the only person I seek out to this day for anything Pilates related!
