I have never worked with a tax professional. In fact, before 2021, I had only ever filed taxes myself. This year everything changed. I was in a crisis, having started my own business in 2020, missing a tax deadline due to COVID-related issues with family, facing an unexpected burden of federal fees and documentation paperwork I had no idea how I would manage. Rarely do I utilize online reviews to find professionals who provide services such as this one. Despite being recommended to Rod via a friend and local in the area who has been working with rod for over 5 years, I feel compelled to write him a review based on my experience working with him. I'll keep this short; I went in bringing only my laptop, feeling scared and hopeless with virtually no paperwork or documentation to show and no idea where to begin. I left Rod's office with everything handled, documents printed out for my records, the comfort that he was committed to helping me request forgiveness of the late fee for which I was penalized for having been 1 day late to file, AND the news that I would be receiving money back on my taxes from the previous year! Rod, a Cal Poly graduate, who is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in accounting, helped me to feel in control of my situation and at ease with the steps that needed to be taken to correct my past mistakes in order to be back on track with my tax situation. BONUS! when my time ran overdue to many unforeseen irregularities with my specific tax preparation, I noticed another client come in and wait. Rod addressed the man in Spanish and kindly asked me if it was possible to pause our session and reconvene later that evening for which I agreed. Later I learned that Rod, who speaks fluent Spanish is specifically certified to help our very own Latino community to do their taxes and keep up to date in accordance with the law, whether they are documented or not. Kudos to you Rod!!! This makes me very proud and happy to come back year after year. It goes without saying that Rod's office is clean and comfortable with COVID precations in place and masks are worn for safety. Appointments are easy to make and efficiently scheduled online via SB Tax Pros website. I highly recommend Rod and SB Tax Pros for any and all tax needs.
